Title: Any stranded TLS folks out there?
Post by: anchaires on October 19, 2007, 12:38:49 PM
We killed TLS, thought I'd come over here to wait it out until the scores are released.

Any familiar faces out there?

sweet mercy it is upsetting me, I miss my TLS so much.  Although I do like how they have the superscript at the bottom of hte page on this site.  That is a good idea.

It is like credentials to make comments :)

maybe you should drop that in Ken's suggestion box

My guess is that many people have.  Also, when I just clicked on the "quote" icon on the side of the page it pulled up the "post a response" form with the quote already added.  BRILLIANT!

We need both of those features over at TLS.

So can any people get into TLS right now or is it down for everyone?

I will feel much better when I open my email knowing what other people have to say about the curve etc.. I am also starting to think we may not receive your scores until tomorrow. Thoughts?

I think there a place where there is the best of both worlds.  I think TLS is more aesthetically pleasing, but I really like the QUOTE option you can hit here and the signature.  Both are sweet.  This site just seems really cluttered with all the stuff going on everywhere. I am a minimalist.

Also, I think people are the same everywhere, with very few differences when taken as a whole.

LSAT Overload, welcome.  I'm interested to hear about the curve too -- but fear not, this kid I work with said he recieved his LSAT email at 9pm, so there is hope for today.  You seem to be very interested in the analytical side of the LSAT -- you must be a paralegal.

Chipotle is RIDICULOUSLY good.  When I lived in Denver they had Qdoba also.  I love Qdoba!

I would be a Chipotle addict if they had one by where I live.  I drive about an hour and fifteen minutes to each there about twice a month!

I wish I was Mexican...for many reasons.

sounds like dotlyn is assuming the site going down is simply coincendental.

I think the high level of intensity us TLS folks have was simply overwhelmed it.

Look I know it's not genuine Mexican food since I am a genuine mexican and I know my own food.

But that shredded beef is de-freaking-licious, barbacoa, it even sounds delicious.

I say 6 oclock eastern today.  Although I am starting to lean toward Sat.  When is the latest the first scores being releaased ever was?

I don't think there is ONE Mexican food by the way. There are many different kinds of Mexican food. The whole, "It isn't authentic" seems somewhat useless to me.  No offense.  I just don't think any one type of the foods that are prepared in Mexico has a monopoly on the title of Mexican food.

I really want my score. I am killing way too much time.

If you are posting a screenshot, if it is too big it won't show up full size and will be distored to be smaller... you should host the picture on imageshack.us and use one of the thumbnail urls that they give you (so people can click on it and see the full version).  Or you can just post the direct url of the picture and we click on it...

I don't want to predict, but maybe the stars will help.  I've altered these horoscopes to fit possible predictions (in brackets).

To get the advantage, check the day's rating: 10 is the easiest day, 0 the most challenging.

Aries (March 21-April 19). Today is a 7. Don't provoke a confrontation with a difficult older person [LIKE CONTACTING LSAC CUSTOMER SERVICE]. Let it pass and it will soon be forgotten. Advise your partner likewise.

Taurus (April 20-May 20). Today is a 7. You could be asked to take on more responsibility [DECEMBER RETAKE?]. Be careful, it doesn't look like extra money is being offered. If you want to carry the load for love, fine.

Gemini (May 21-June 21). Today is a 7. You've been good and you've worked hard and saved up a lot of money [POSSIBLY YOU WON'T GET THOSE POST-LSAT FEE WAIVERS]. Well, maybe not as much as you'd like, but there is enough for an excursion.

Cancer (June 22-July 22). Today is a 6. Now that you've reached an agreement, you'll need to figure out how you're going to pay for this. Don't worry, you can [MAYBE YOU GOT THOSE FEE WAIVERS].

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22). Today is a 6. The hard part is almost over [MAYBE YOU WILL GET YOUR SCORE SOON!]. Smooth sailing is ahead, due in part to assistance from a techno-whiz.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Today is a 6. Work is required [ARRRGH, BORDERLINE SCORE]. Unfortunately you may not be certain of exactly what you should do. Don't be afraid. You'll figure it out.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22). Today is a 6. It's never easy to change your mind, but sometimes it's necessary [ASK FOR ADVICE BEFORE YOU SIGN UP TO RETAKE]. Thank your coach, and relax.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21). Today is a 6. Hiding out at home is a viable choice [YOU'RE GOING TO GET DRUNK AT HOME WAITING FOR YOUR SCORE]. Give yourself plenty of time for contemplation and cuddling.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Today is a 7. With the extra money, upgrade your library. There are many things out there, the knowing of which boosts your value even more [DAMN, YOU MUST HAVE GOT A GOT SCORE].

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Today is an 8. The money's flowing your way in the next few days. It seems to be for work already done [SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD SCORE TO ME, TOO]. Stash away as much as you can.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Today is a 7. Soon you'll be in a better position to advise your friends. You'll have conquered another obstacle on the road to success [GOOD SCORE FOR AQUARIANS TOO].

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20). Today is a 6. The stresses of socializing become a faint memory. You'll be so busy the next few days, you won't have time to party [YEAH, YOU'LL BE WAITING FOR YOUR SCORE].

Take it with a grain of salt.  Some of our trolls on LSD also go to LSATdiscussion since they can use guest accounts all the time.

If it's real though, I like it, pretty standard for a -10 scale (-9 if a question is thrown out, but it's basically still like -10)

180: 97 - 99
179: *
178: 96

175: *

173: 92
170: 89

165: 83

unicorn

an LR misread

hospital care
West influence

main point problem (from Senegalese filmmaker)

OK, so the facts...you've already seen the earlier screenshot of the scale.  That is accurate.  I also just got my email notification.

The upshot is I got a 168.  Looks like -2 LR, -9 LG, -1 LR, and -0 RC.  Not sure what happened on LG.  Pretty disappointed because even for me that's a piss-poor showing.  I could have been in the 170s if I had not bombed it.

I missed the unicorns question. The answer was the answer I said was right in the post-mortem (A), but I never switched it to A on my answer sheet. Damnit.

I missed 1 LG.

2 RC (main point of spider passage...somehow) and main point of philosophical anarchy passage (it wasn't the counterintuitive answer, it was C, which said "It does not follow logically from philosophical anarchism that no government is morally better than any other or that people have no moral duties towards one another)"

So

-1 LR
-1 LG
-2 RC

As prickish as this sounds, 1 of the questions I missed was a simple failure to switch answers on the scantron and the the spiders MP was easy in hindsight. Kinda annoying I couldn't have gotten those 2 for a 180.

FWIW, my highest practice test was 179. Average was probably 170.

The answer to the hospitals one was "there would be a net increase in employment."

I was correct on the one Laffy and I had our heated debate about (the "had not read Marx" question)

Also, TCR for the West influence question was "his work was not entirely free..."

I had only planned to drink 1/3 of this bottle of wine by the time my score came, but now I've had about 2/3 of it and it's still not here...

Cutwolf,

I wouldn't let it haunt you.  Everybody who takes the test has a certain statistical likelihood of error, and the scale probably accounts for it.

I think that as long as you explain your poor performance in your PS, it probably won't hurt you too badly. (;

Meaning of counterintuitive was A, implications conflict with some commonly held beliefs

Which democracy one? The one about "widespread acceptance of the idea that individuals are incapable of looking after their own welfare..."?

That was E. "legislator proposing law prohibiting act that can only harm the person performing the act will seem to be assuming that indivs are incap of looking after their own welfare"

Viv,

Reminds me of the best dinner my wife and I ever had.  We were staying in a nice hotel with a pizzaria.  We both ordered these nice big pizzas, and when the waiter came around we ordered a liter of wine.  We're both lightweights.  We sat there for two hours, eating our pizzas and getting completely drunk.  Ate outside and were treated to a nice thunderstorm.

Just tell me it's red.  I can't stand too much white.
