Title: Mike Nifong hearing (Duke Lax prosecutor)
Post by: umass22 on June 15, 2007, 08:19:31 AM
It is on right now. This guy absolutely needs to be disbarred and then criminaly prosecuted.  >:(  Anything less then disbarred is going to be completely unnaceptable.

This is the strongest example of why judges shouldn't be elected. I don't really want to get into it. I'm just sayin' is all.

I think he's saying the judge has incentive to play to the press.

No I was saying DAs are elected. Nifong, a DA, did this playing to the press to get elected. If judges were to be elected...

You see where I'm going.

Hence, the italicized 'judges'.

Yeah, the guy jumped the gun big time and grandstanded too much, but please don't climb aboard the media driven bandwagon calling for his card.  I don't know where you are in the process but as a practicing courtroom lawyer I can tell you it's tough to please everybody and we all get tired of hindsighters and second guessers routinely threatening our livelihood when things don't go their way.  I take it very personally because most of the people calling for our heads have no idea about the blood, sweat, and tears that it took to get where we are and have no real clue about what we do.  It's a freakin' tough job, not for the faint of heart. He knows he screwed up.  We know he screwed up.  But his brothers and sisters in the legal community need to get his back because, believe me, tomorrow it'll be you.  And the "he makes us all look bad" routine doesn't work either.  Don't think you won't make errors in judgment doing this job because you absolutely will...
