It looks more like they're pulling URMs...

If they were just looking to boost GPA, there are quite a few waitlisters with 3.9+ gpas and decent lsat scores.  Any sign of movement is a good sign as far as I'm concerned.

pugnacious or whatever her name is (something relating to pugs) just got off the WL today, and as far as I know she isn't URM or anything - i.e. there seems to be movement of "regular" applicants on the WL. You'll have to ask her about particulars.

HTH everybody - I'm pulling for you guys!!!

500 students are placed on the waitlist.  Of those, 10% are accepted.  How do i know? I was on it last year and didn't get in.  I currently attend another school in l.a.. Good Luck

does anyone know if there is going to be a certain point when a lot of people will receive decisions off the waitlist or if it has been ranked at all recently?  i'm thinking about sending an email to ucla but i'm trying not to pester the admissions office.  thanks!

I'm waitlisted at UCLA. Immediately after receiving the waitlist letter, i sent an additional LOR and a LOCI. After 10 days, I sent admissions an email asking them to confirm receipt of my materials. This morning I received a phone call from a young lady in admissions. She said she was calling in response to my email. While she wouldn't confirm whether my materials had been received or not, she did invite me to come take a tour of the UCLA Law campus this coming Monday. She said the dean "might be there, depending on his schedule." I tried to get more information out of her, but it seemed like she was on a short leash (i.e. not at liberty to release too much info). At the end of the convo, i asked her to clarify whether Admissions had received my materials. She said "You can look at your file when you get here."

I'm obviously going to the tour (I reside in San Diego so its a short drive). Anybody else been through anything similar?

Went in and spoke with Dean Schwartz today.  He basically told me at this point they are just waiting for more people to withdraw and that my application was still "In the realm of possibility."

He also told me I have done as much as anyone could to show them that I was interested in attending, I think that is code for stop bothering us :)

Hmmmm I think I see Loyola in my future :)

Sam,

Did Schwartz say how many people they thought they would ultimately admit off the waitlist and when that might happen?

I also went to UCLA and spoke to the assistant Dean of Admissions.  She said that her and Dean Schwartz plan on making about 50 more offers to waitlisted candidates, hoping to yield about 10 more students in.  She said this could occur even right up to the time classes start.  That's why they're making so many offers... cause they figure some people won't be able to come to UCLA last minute.

Bull-f-ing-*&^% you trolling mofo you. Why are you trying to get the hopes up of good, God-fearing, future law students? UCLA's yield rate would be smashed to smithereens. Motherfucking killself. HTmotherfuckingH!!!

Dean Schwartz told me he had about 50 candidates left in serious consideration but they were not sure how many they could admit....they are waiting for people to drop out at this point in order to get more off the waitlist.

Loyola's orientations and first legal methods classes meet next week.  I have my metro pass, have paid my tuition, and have my class schedule.  I don't think I could go to UCLA now even if I got in!

Can still hope though!

Got another e-mail from schwartz today telling me the class was full but he would let me know if a spot opened up.

Doesn't sound very promising.
