I will be going to law school in Texas, but not at TSU.  I get mixed reviews about TSU.  Before visiting, I heard that their facilities weren't great, students weren't too great etc.  BUT after visiting, I can honestly say that they are trying to improve the quality of the school.  Their building is getting a massive face-lift, which may be complete by now.  I was reading somewhere that George Foreman donated $5 million to the school to jump start a Sports & Entertainment Law Program.  And the students and professors that I met seem to be dedicated to the school.  However, it's not glamorous and their bar passage rate is fairly low.  Also, it's a known fact that the bottom 33 - 40% of the 1st year class is dismissed after their 1st year.  The schools has some positives and some negatives.  But it's not expensive at all.  If you go, be prepared to work your tail during your first year and take a bar exam prep course before you sit for the bar.  Good luck!

I think it would be worth the money to go to a better school.  It is an investment that will pay off once you land your first job.

lawstudent2004:

Congrats on your acceptance to Tech!  They have an excellent program.  Maybe I'll see you there!  I was accepted by Texas Tech a few weeks ago!  Good luck to everyone!

Ithacabomber:

STCL has a history of not getting to their applicants until April/May.  Don't sweat it; it will come.  Good luck!  STCL has an incredible Trial Advocacy program.

Trying to decide if the 7+ hour drive is worth it.

Yes, I am also going to a campus tour tomorrow.  If you don't go to orientation, I can fill you in.  It's a little easier for me; I live in Amarillo.

I know that someone else already said this, but STCL has a great Trial Advocacy program and the Director of Advocacy, Gerald Treece, is an incredible person and you can learn so much from him.  My sister went to STCL for her 1L and then transferred to Univ. of Houston and she really enjoyed STCL.  In fact, I think that she actually liked it better than U of H, but she won't admit it.

Good luck to everyone!

I'm trying for the following in 2005:

UT, UH, SMU, STCL

Got a good shot at UT (as long as I score on the LSAT what I am now in practice) and UH should be my safety school w/ STCL as backup in case I just totally freak out and turn into a pile of jelly and bomb the LSAT.

Good luck to all yall texans applying!

If i'm going to move to Waco, I might as well move to Utah or somewhere else out of state. I think my wife (and I) would go freakin stir crazy in Waco. You ever been there? Not exactly the best town Texas has to offer. Too big to be quaint, too small to be interesting, and too hyper-religious to move around comfortably.

Yeah actually I -just- visited 4/2. I agree, the town sucks 100% unadulterated ass.

Then again I had to choose between Texas Tech (Lubbock) and Baylor (Waco) so my options were limitted.
