Binding ED hurts scholarship chances, not helps them.

ED cuts off all your chances of getting merit based scholarship.  Financial aid is almost non-existent.

EA on the other hand gives you a shot at merit based scholarship. 

Always go the route that'll give you more money~

ED eliminates any incentive of schools to offer you merit-based aid.

EA won't hurt those chances, and gives you more time to try negotiating/working sone angle.
