Post by: Little D on April 03, 2006, 07:11:42 AM
what the hell is the matter with you people?  How can we not have a thread dedicated to the best show on tv?

That was a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT f*cking episode... I was laughing so hard, I almost cried throughout the whole thing... so what do you think will be Vito's fate?  I hope they don't save his death for an end-of-season finale cuz that would be mad whack.

I still can't get over the episode.  Honestly, i'm glad they veered off from strictly business to something more lighthearted, so to speak.  What do you mean, Chris in LA?

the previews looked like chris was going to work on that movie thing...showed him in some hotel looking bath robe...thought me might be pursuing "cleaver".

No, it's definitly LA. I kind of want them to kill Vito off, but only because i hate his character lol. But this episode was awesome! I'm glad there's a thread out here like this  :)

Nice! this season has all the makings of a classic... much needed, after last year's debacle.

Something will probably go completely awry on the set.  Hasn't Chris learned from his last bid in the entertainment industry... the "Cats" or whatever that band was called, lol.

And yes, I HATE Vito with a passion, but all of a sudden his character is much more interesting.

Is it just me or is Meadow getting more and more annoying with each passing episode. Thank god that she's crazy hot.  This was probably the funniest episode ever, though.  And the previews for next week looked awesome.

i love how every guy on the show was like "i knew vito was gay the whole time"
I think something bad is going to happen to fin. we shall see. I would never date a mob boss's daughter

I don't think ANYTHING will happen to Fin... he's pretty much absolved from harm at this point.  And Meadow is MAAAAAAAD annoying.  If I had my way, she would go study abroad somewhere and that blasted psychiatrist would get executed QUICK.  I truly do hate her guts.

Someone being gay=funniest episode ever?  The funniest episode ever was the one where Paulie and Chris were stranded in the woods together- eating packets of condiments in the truck and freaking out.  THAT was funny.  Yeah?
And I think Meadow was way more annoying in the beginning, when she was a whiny teenager.  I like the psychiatrist.

i think u r right. the woods episode was the funniest one. i always thought they would bring that russian back. I think pauley is out of control. the episode where he hits that kid in the knee with a pipe and tells him he has to pay 48k a year from colorado was out of control. For one thing that kid would have went straight to the cops. if your not in any way connected to the mob u dont just pay money for the rest of your life. I wish one episode one of them would accidentally @#!* with a bad ass. walk up to a jason bourne and just get dropped. that would be some comic relief

Did anyone else see how that lawyer was checking Meadow out? Man, I hope I can have her as my secretary one day...

Vito's dead meat. Tony's flirtations with changing his ways usually don't last long. He'll start cheating on Carmela as soon as his heart can handle screwing again too.

Verbal, I'd like to see you try, but there's a reason why they were able to stay in power for so long. Few people take them on by force and win. It's much easier to take them down as a US Attorney, though as the Junior trial shows that doesn't actually make it easy.

I always knew Carmela was a Republican.

And IvanTrbl, people go to this website at work. Or at least they try, and your avatar makes that a hassle. Please, do us a favor and change it for those of us with people looking over our shoulders.

yeah i decided my comment sounded a little cocky so i replaced it. I would have no problem calling the cops and im sure thats the first thing i would do. well really it would be the second. the first thing i would do is pick up a concealed weapons permit just in case they came looking for me later. I just thought that scene was kind of rediculous

Phooey - of course an episode in which somebody is gay can be the funniest ever.  "Someone might have a hard-on for Vito!" - Tony Soprano; classic.

And IvanTrbl, people go to this website at work. Or at least they try, and your avatar makes that a hassle. Please, do us a favor and change it for those of us with people looking over our shoulders.

Goodfella - by tommorow, I will have a much more appropriate avatar up so please bear with this one for another day.  Anyways, I have far too many fans to purge them all.

Oh, and for the record, I live on the west coast, so I didn't realize you all were talking about the episode that aired last night (because it hadn't aired here yet)- I thought you all were talking about the episode from the week before, where Vito gets caught in the gay bar at the end of it..I was a little puzzled about why everyone thought that episode was such a riot.
I haven't seen the new one yet, I'll watch it tonight.

Well... it wasnt the worst episode ever, but i've noticed that the Soprano  scriptwriters generally shy away from pushing the envelope too far.  How awesome would it have been if Anthony actually stabbed Junior?  What if he did it and then ran away?... or if he was arrested and faced trial while Tony had to do whatever possible to get him aquitted?... I dunno, I figure that since this is allegedly the last season - why not go crazy?  The season finale will probably climax with Vito capped... how boring.

In any event, the sexual sideplots were fantastic - the realestate owner; boy does Tony have game.  Vito with the biker dude.. haha.  And was that girl actually blowing Anthony's friend on the couch?

it would have...i think he is (obviously from last night) still too much of a female private part to do anything.  I think it is funny he is now having panic attacks, just like his dad!

that would be boring if they ended this part with vito  ::)

i think she was...the 15 year old? ick

The greatest ending EVER would be if Vito returned to NJ in the final episode and was about to get whacked by Phil and co., as everyone expects, but, low and behold, Vito's boyfriend shows up to the place of the would-be-hit with his biker posse and slaughters everyone... the likes of Phil, the guy who got into a fight w/ the restaraunt owner, the new garbage route manager, and Pauly all iced... WOW.  but, i dont think Sopranos writers have the balls.

ugh phil, yes...The previews for next week looked interesting...and I gotta say, Im actually enjoying Big Love...would have never watched it if they didnt put it after The Sopranos

That's why they put Big Love after Sopranos.  It's a good thing I have ON DEMAND, i'll check it out!

If Vito has anything to do with the ending, I would be mad.. It's such a new storyline..

I am convinced that Tony will have to choose between his two families, and will choose his real family..

Last nights episode was interesting, I actually enjoyed it a lot..

I haven't seen the new one yet!  I have a tape of it ready to go for tonight, though.  I'll check back in.

I've said it before though...Paulie is dead meat, that much I know.  He's losing it.
And I agree with the poster who said Tony will have to choose between the two and pick his real family...all these good/evil duality and redemption undercurrents have to lead somewhere.  The Vito stuff is just filler...and I still think the episode with Paulie and ChristophUH in the woods was funnier than the one from two weeks ago.  Just personal taste I guess.  All those lame gay jokes reminded me of Will and Grace.

Maybe you should stick to watching soap operas.

In essence, Sopranos really is just a glorified soap opera, albeit with superior acting, directing, and, of course, adult content to appease your machismo, I presume.  And don't tell me they can't throw drastic turns in the story line because that element was at the heart of the first two seasons... but has been missing since.

Last night's episode was a disgrace.  Vito was whacked as freaking exactly predicted and half the show was devoted to Carmela's ridiculous trip to Paris.  No follow-up on story lines - the terrorists, the Russians, Carmela's suspicions about Adriana's death.  Why were we forced to watch the romance of Vito and his boyfriend?  Was there a point!!?  Anthony is lazy... WHO CARES!!!??  The writers have gone mad, i tell you, and quite frankly i'm ecstatic it's almost over.

I can't seem to stop watching though, so I have to give the producers credit for that... or should I curse them for it!!?

I understand, and this is, indeed, an interesting unresolved thread in the plot.  However, my beef with the season is that the imminent war is the ONLY interesting thread that remains.  Also, they only deal with this issue for like 30% of the episodes and waste too much time on utter rubbish... (anthony's laziness, carmela's contract thing, those bloody awful psychiatrist visits, relationship problems with Fin.. etc, etc, freaking etc.)  Who remembers Chris going to Hollywood to try to produce the movie?  What happened with that? NOTHING!!  The terrorists?  NOTHING!!!  Could there have been a more boring end to Johnny Sach's incarceration?  Also, to this point, those time-consuming illusions Tony had while on his death bed were not expanded on and it hardly appears they will be..

WHY DO I WATCH THIS SHOW!!!???

David Chase said in the past that not all storylines have endings.. Remember the time you broke your neighbors window?  Well every so often the neighbor doesn't find out/doesn't do anything..  Life is full of unresolved storylines, and that is why Chase included it in the show.. Also it makes for a good means to surprise us, when we dont know what storylines will be resolved or unresolved..

IMO, last night's was the worst Sopranos episode EVER (consider yourself lucky).  Yeah, it used to be amazing... the episode with the soccer coach was my all-time favorite.  Could you imagine the scriptwriters producing a one-espisode saga like that again?

noo i already saw it, i just need a recap if you could, im going crazy tryin to remember it.

Very well, then.  Meadow's highschool soccer team was one of the best in the country, thanks in large part to her renown (but seemingly nerdy) soccer coach.  He began winning national honors and Duke took notice of him, offering the coach a contract to lead the Blue Devils.  The problem is that this would entail his walking out on Meadow's team mid-season, which didn't sit well with Tony, who was an avid supporter of the club.  He began extorting the coach by showering him with all sorts of goodies like television sets.  Of course, this bribery was forced upon the coach with an added threat he was all too aware of.  Matters were certainly on their way to reaching a gripping climax until...

Irony struck!  It turned out Meadow's best friend (of around 16 yrs of age) was sleeping with the coach the entire season and Meadow revealed the secret to Tony.  Now Tony began toying with the notion of seriously killing her coach - the man he bribed to stay only days beforehand.  After sending a hitman to the coach's home, the story climaxed as the hit was about to be carried out, while Carmela was busy trying desperately to disuade Tony from killing the coach (which would only hurt the girl he molested even further).  In the end, he lets him go, and the coach was taken to jail, much to the delight of the victim's family.

This episode actually reminded me of the Vito saga, who was killed for desecrating his family, which paradoxically crippled them further.  Of course, what took one episode to accomplish then, takes an ENTIRE SEASON to accomplish now.

i also liked the whole carmela/furio romance. dont ask me why. i was sad when it ended :(

Christopher is going to be a big part towards the end.  They are setting us up for some stuff, for sure.  THe whole thing with Adrianna's mother coming around and saying it was Chris.  Plus his relapse with the dopefiend.  And the Ben Kingsley deal.  He's going to be a major source of drama really soon.

I thought Carmella was going to meet some French guy last night.  I hated when she was cheating.  That irks me.

OMG i LOVE when she cheats!! give Tony the ahole what he deserves! personally i get sick watching him do another woman, he is so gross.
though she never really cheated, the closest she ever came was kissing that carpenter in her bathroom. edie falco is probably the most underrated actress out there, she is phenomenal.

and i missed yesterday!!!! waiting for it to come on again tonight!!! rrgggg

Ugh.  I don't think either of them should cheat.  But that is how our world works, the husband gets his goomah and the wife ignores it.  I won't do that.  I don't think my father has, but I know a lot of people that have.  So they're just showing that.  It's a real part of our world.  We don't believe in divorce.  Unless it's an Italian Divorce, they stay married and live in the same house, usually sleep in different beds, and just stick together for posterity and stay away from each other for safety.

hmmm i have my doubts. but i guess well see
Tony and Chris bonded a few weeks ago, if there was any doubt he's the next in line, it was cleared up there.

The families are about to hit the mattresses. While Phil and Tony struggle for power, Tony will need to really step back into his old self.  He's too ready to live and leave this lifestyle deep down.  Chris, I think, will be taking Tony's place at some point.

no way. tony will be in charge till the end. it just wouldnt be the same without him.

and speaking of storylines going nowhere, where the heck is junior??!! i used to love him in the old episodes.

He was the man in past seasons.  Now, he's just a vegetable.. but hey, it's 6 years later and you can't hate on an OG for that!!

I don't think they will let Chris step up completely either.  People won't tolerate things like that.

Junior is in a home for being crazy.  AJ went there to stab him like last week or two ago.

yeah i know. what i meant was, the junior storyline is going nowhere.
though i do think the whole AJ knife thing was hilarious, i nearly fell off my couch when that happened!

Me too.  I thought he might actually do it.  Then it fell and I was like who brought the male private part?

Junior is pretty much done with, I think.  Except for an unlikely reconciliation between him and Tony, which would continue the whole psychological development trend in the series.

They are important though.  This is really a story about Tony's struggle with being in the mob and living this lifestyle.  His psychological repression of so much of his childhood is vital to understanding his character.

Please Lord, ANYTHING but this.  It's bad enough the psychiatrist meetings were limited to 15 minute affairs this season... (her damn monotone voice!)

ivan, are you russian as well? isnt that a russian name?

......I am Russian and Ivan is a Russian name, but my name is Nick...  :)

I know a guy that knows the guy that played the guy that raped her.  Would you like his autograph as vindication?

i agree. but theyve seem to have gotten so monotonous and lame lately. and to be honest, i thought it was kinda hot when tony and dr. melfi had that chemistry goin there for a while. you always wondered what was gonna happen. now just sucks

Eh.  I don't really like physcial romance threads on tv.  I don't like all the sex scenes and stuff.

vito got whacked last episode by phil's crew, beat him to death then shoved a pool cue you know where.

boring, as in, no progression in the storyline, excepte that christopher is back to drugs, only a hint that phil was looking to whack tony, i guess thats what we can expect next season.

I still think it's compelling. I like how they don't have to go all soap opera on you to keep you interested. It's the best written series I've ever seen.
