Title: Bush says his judicial appointments are being blocked by Democrats
Post by: jgruber on July 19, 2004, 08:45:37 AM
Dubya is making a campaign issue of the fact that 6 of his judicial nominees have not been approved because of Senate Democrats.  He tells audiences this is "unfair and wrong".

He does not tell them that 198 of his nominees have been approved.

He does not tell them that the bench vacancy rate is lower than it was during the Clinton years when Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond openly blocked Clinton nominees.

He seems to be complaining because the Senate has not approved 100% of his nominees.  Only 97+ percent.

He seems to be complaining because the Senate is fulfilling its constitutional responsiblities.
