I have a feeling there are some more great acceptances in your future. Congrats on the scholarship, too.

I received the scholarship notification, too. Out-of-state tuition waiver worth about $10k, and an additional $4k stipend per year. Gotta work for the $4k, though!  :o

I received the same scholarship offer as well.  Congrats to all.  Did anyone else receive the additional letter saying additional scholarship money was available if you let them know they are your first choice?  If so, how long do you think we have to make this decision?  Also, since they aren't asking for a deposit with that notification, is telling them you're extremely interested in W&M as a first choice at all binding?

And about the 4K stipend - I was kinda annoyed that they called it a stipend when really it's more like a Work study type thing. Though the research opportunities sound interesting.

I looked at the work study thing when applying, but I couldn't tell if there really were interesting opportunities, or if the responsibilities leaned more toward stuffing envelopes and setting up chairs for their events. In the end I decided against applying for them because (1) I think the research opportunities would probably still be there if you are both capable and aggressive, and (2) given the time commitment, the pay rate is pretty darn low.

Hey I got the same letter. I emailed the dean about it and she called me right back, saying that the money was reserved for those who were sure to enroll in W&M, for whom W&M was the first choice, etc, and that all it required was a statement of interest explaining why W&M is your first choice. She kinda scared me off even though she didn't mention that it was binding, though to be honest I was so shocked that she had called me only minutes after I sent the email, that the conversation wasn't really productive and I didn't ask any questions.

Thats basically the same vibe I got.  I would obviously love to be considered for extra money, however I'm not at all "sure to enroll" at W&M.  While I understand that they can only make so many offers of extra money, it seems to me like they may be shooting themselves in the foot.  For many people with numbers similar to yours or mine, our decision to attend W&M could very well come down to their scholarship offer. So, by requiring applicants to give up on their other apps in order to be reviewed for extra money, I wonder if they scaring off their so-called top applicants.

I hate to revive a fairly old thread, but it seemed like the place to ask...

how long after the acceptance did the $$$ letters arrive?  (I got accepted today...am anxious as heck, now)

About a week later for me.  No worries App1693, with those scores you'll definitely be hearing something soon! ;D

I did receive word about a week later (8 days) :)

That fellowship pays about $17/hour.  Pretty good for part-time administrative work.

does anyone know how fellowship at W&M is structured? Is it 14k a year AND $17 an hour?
