Sorry to hear that.  I'm sure you'll have some good chances at other schools.  What are your stats and when did you apply?

I thought my strong soft factors would clinch at least a defer or waitlist. But, as I found out today, if your numbers are below their averages then there is little hope.

Hey ack!, why did you hide all your apps?

Hey ack!, why did you hide all your apps?

The idea is that final decisions can be posted, while pending apps remain hidden. This way I can contribute some helpful information to others on LSN without worrying about snooping adcomms, as they could never be sure that I had applied to their school. A very silly combination of paranoia and almost certainly faulty game theory.

Yeah, no acceptances for me.  Life sucks when the first response you get from the pile of law school apps you sent out is a ding.  I'm bitter, so screw Georgetown, for not looking past the numbers.  No cutoffs, my a$$.

"This is to inform you that after careful consideration of your file, the Committee on Admissions is unable to approve your application for admission to the Law Center for the Fall of 2006.
Last year, we received almost 12,000 applications for the 575 places available in our first year class, and each year the quality of our applicant pool continues to increase. Consequently, the Committee has been forced to make the difficult decision of turning down many well-qualified candidates who have the potential for success in a law program.
We appreciate your interest in Georgetown and wish you success in in attaining your academic goals."

I appreciate your trying to find a compromise between paranoia and the unofficial social contract you signed by registering and using LSN.  A lot of LSNers could learn from you.   :)

EDIT:  And I raise a glass to those having to suffer under the weight of GULCs number whorishness.

some drunk person pulled the fire alarm twenty minutes ago, so i'm forced to be awake. . . .  so don't be alarmed when you notice that it's 4:50 a.m.
anyway, i've been decision at gulc for about a week and a half. . . . still no letter.  that's not a good sign is it?

I really don't imagine it's the case that the USPS is in cahoots with GULC to slow down the courriering of non-acceptance decisions.  If it's been a while, it's probably just the mail service and I imagine that has no effect on and it not at all affected by the decision.

are any acceptance letters still even rolling out from GULC for EA?  i'm still "complete" as of 12/9...doesn't bode well, but i'm still trying to keep the hope alive.

You have some great numbers... The upside is that there have been people who have been dinged and got into higher ranked schools.  Congratulations on your acceptances thus far, I am sure there are more coming.

Cpac - if you applied a while ago and are still not complete at cornell, perhaps you want to give them a ring?  I did a couple weeks ago, and good thing, because my dean's cert never got there even though i requested one back in early november. had to do it all over again.

Yeah, I was going to, but actually they emailed me saying I needed another LOR to complete my file. I only had one from a professor (and another from an administrative school person) and they wanted both from a professor. I was actually happy they emailed me instead of me just never knowing. I had to get a professor to write one in a week!!!

Thanks for the info though, I'll definitely call them if I'm not complete after the holidays.
