Title: What happened to Law School Discussion? Also- Will answer questions.
Post by: loki13 on March 19, 2015, 02:08:07 PM
So... a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away, I used this board. I posted about my fears (and happiness!) when it came to getting into law school.

Then I posted during my first year of law school.

Then I cam back as a 3L and posted a bit about my experiences.

So... it's been a while. A long while. And now that I'm back, I see that LSD (heh) is overrun by spammers hawking shoes, pharmaceuticals, and, well, stuff I probably wouldn't want if I could be bothered to google translate it. Is this just a down period? Or something else?

Anyway, I'll be checking in for a few days. If you have any general questions about the law school experience, feel free to ask. I'm a lawyer who has gone through the whole process (relatively recently), and worked at a BigLaw job until lateraling to my dream position recently. I've worked on the West Coast and in the SE, and have contacts pretty much everywhere except the Midwest (why not there? who knows...). If you have questions, ask away.

Enjoying your posts and bringing a bit of life to this forum. I used to use this routinely in 2007-2008  when there was constant traffic and came back about a year ago to see the constant SPAM not sure what happened.

Citylaw,

Concur. I mainly disagree with you on small things because it's fun, and it keeps the conversations alive! I started posting here as a 0L back in the day, posted sporadically in law school (a little 1L, a little 3L), and then posted briefly my first year at BigLaw. I came back recently and couldn't believe the spam takeover. It makes me pretty sad; this used to be the go-to community.

My money would be on TLS taking most of the traffic.

But honestly the two of you have offered better and more detailed advice than 90% of the people that use TLS, so kudos for still sticking around.

I guess TLS was picking up back in the day, but it just seems to be full of people that have no idea what they are talking about saying no to everything and greatly exaggerating the scenarios.

Also that just goes to show how important is to remember any advice on this board, TLS or others comes from anonymous internet posters and it should be taken with a grain of salt. If you look hard enough on the internet you can always find something that agrees with you.

Hell Cooley makes their own Law School Rankings and good for them why not make yourself #1.  It has no more or less authority than U.S. News and with all the information all over the place people forget to use common sense, which can really take you a long-way.

Huh. I just looked at TLS.

Part of me was like, "Woah. Pretty cool and vibrant. Kind of reminds me of LSD (heh) back in the day."

And then part of me was like, "WTF? This isn't the blind leading the blind... this is the some of the worst FUD I've ever seen. Nice avatars, though."

Glad we could offer some assistance Phantom and yea TLS is not lacking content definitely quantity over quality on that site, but the MODS probably would do something if more than 50% of the site was pharmacy ads so you got to give them that.

As to Loki, I enjoy the banter as well and also like disagreeing with you on minor points to keep the conversation alive.

LSD ftw.

Helped me study for the LSAT and pick my law school. But as a current 1L, I, sadly, have more pressing things that take my time.

Hah!
