Is Julie being sarcastic as a Newt supporter offering him a new mistress? Seriously?

Santorum is looking good now and may even be better for the Obama campaign than Newt.  What you going to offer Santorum to stick it out?

Santorum is going to need a lot more mediaoutlets talking about him to make a serious run.  Other candidates have been at it much longer.....good luck with santorum.

You're probably right Blue, but if he can win MI he will be a real contender.  We'll see.  Santorum is making headway and Romney is blundering, time will tell.

This confirms that we independent consevatives select our presidents....Romney and Obama are the only two contenders...doesn't matter which one wins.

The right wing nuts and left-wing nuts both want her to run...lol.

You just made me chuckle, Blue.  Not so much because your are wrong, but because your you're indirectly not wrong.

The repubs pressured her not to run precisely because they thought she could win a primary, but never never a general election.  Even if she wasn't a wing nut, which she is, she is too uninformed on too many issues to come off as anything but a dumbass in against challenging opposition.

Her last ditch effort was to associate herself with the conservative messiah: Regan, via Thatcher. When Thatcher rejected her, unforgiving, Palin was out for good.  She won't be back.

Aye think it is funny that sp is the "howard stern" of politics...many enjoy listening to her because they want to hear what she has to say next...some are so amused by her and some can't stand her...but both sides are tragically fixated on her...

she is an opportunist like kucinich...in it to keep her name out there and make a buck.
Many on the left are scared that romney will beat obama...So they want sp to run.

Neither sp nor kucinich are/were  ;) viable candidates...
Both funny as hell to me, though.

Omg...that speech by santorum was totally disconnected from reality and somewhat scattered...he has a passionate cadence but the way he connects thoughts into sentences is jumbled....

I'd like to read his speech back...aye bet it's weird on paper.

Tricky with that lump of coal? Though..."ten people in that santorum room thought he was telling them that he was Santa claus and if they didn't vote for him it's a piece of carbon in the stocking during candy cane time.

...however with the coal he is on to something with rural and forest dwellers in the USA

...what did msnbc commentators say about santorums speech? Matthews thought santorum was passionate...in voice, maybe...his reality was a little spotty.

...even al sharp ton said it was a good speech?  Rachal maddow didn't even comment on the disjointedness...although she looked like she wanted to gouge her own eyes out...said almost nothing.

...how did they miss that opportunity to rip him to shreds...amazing that maybe msnbc forced hard objective journalism.

Msnb? Idiots

He's hanging himself- The smart thing to do if you don't like Rick is give him the mic. :). Rookie mistakes abound.

He's done, not because Romney beat him, but because he beat himself.  Romney is in a room right now chuckling to himself and shaking his head.  Rick played in Herman Kain style.

Santorum is stuck in his own past and still fighting demons--social issues are not where the electorate is thinking.  That Kennedy slight was plain stupid.  This guy is scary and thankfully, I don't think he stands a chance.

Obama is a strong enough candidate to win outright for the Democrats without the need of a ringer like Santorum, Palin or Gingrich on the Republican side.  If you are worried that Romney will win the primary then I see the need to cheer for the less viable candidates.  That appears to be Julie's hope.  Is this the same for you? I understand the worry too, because of Obama's lofty promises back in 08.  He has had 4 years and much of the electorate are upset over the stilted status quo.  Now, I'm playing the devil's advocate here but Romney is a successful businessman, was the Governor of Massachusetts and is a moderate.  If the economy continues to remain stagnant with only marginal improvement the fickle electorate might get a case of incumbent-itis.  When George H. Bush lost the election in 1992 a third party candidate who was a businessman took 19% of the popular vote.  The economy was in shambles in 92' and some thought it needed a business approach.  Something to consider, no?

Yep. And "San Dimas High School football rules" is how the student presenting before Bill and Ted finished his speech. Before that, I think he said something along the lines of, "Everything's bigger, but smaller. It's computers." It's been ages since I last saw that movie.

Yeah, booooo.  This thread has a lot of potential for more arguments and has plenty of legs to run with.  It's one of the few signs of life here keeping the board alive these days.

We have many months until the election, anything can happen during that time.

One of the prime candidates could trip and fall down the stairs, get bit by a dog and infected with rabies, decide to give up material possessions and join a commune or become a Buddhist, the list goes on...

Julie is always up for fun argument and banter, she just needs more people to tango with.  Just try not to get all bent out of shape when she insults you!

Julie, what are your current thoughts on Romney for republican nominee?
He scares me, especially if he manages to get to have access to the 'bomb stuff button'.

Yeah, that's some pretty good and deep substance.  It satiates me for the moment while the news disturbs me.

It seems that yet again voters are faced with having to pick the least bad rotten apple out of the barrel.

Hopefully many informed people that have read stuff and done some research will show up to the polls and vote with brains instead of voting for best dressed, best haircut, or best suit and tie guy.

I'd like to see Palin make a lot more noise to stir the pot.  IMHO she does make a lot of sense in practical ways about many issues.  She's a tough woman with some good core principles she sticks to, for better or for worse.  I respect that. She doesn't seem to radically change her views and guiding principles based on the direction the wind is blowing on a particular day, unlike many other candidates, *cough cough* again what's your view today Mr. Romney?

Thinking about it realistically, I still have not been able to conceive of a rational/sane reason anyone could have to want to run for president and be the President of the USA and go through everything involved in the process of running and then the daily processes once in office.  It just doesn't seem like an attractive job rational people would seek and enjoy aside from narcissists.

I'm sure the living and travel benefits are nice with air force one, the white house and white house kitchen and other staff, and everything else, but the pressure cooker you are in during the whole time has to make it pretty hard to be able to enjoy those luxuries for even a few uninterrupted hours every now and then.

And yeah, as it looks now, Obama is a very lucky candidate for re-election given the republican candidates as they stand right now.

Will Romney ask Palin to be running mate? Fingers crossed.  Here we go again- "Gov. Palin, what newspapers do you read?  I can see Russia from my house."

Apparently, on “Fox News Sunday,” Gingrich described Mitt Romney as "far and away the most likely" GOP nominee...

That's probably true as his contingency plan unless he can get Romney to make him his VP running mate and get into the White House.  You never know, there is a long time ahead until D-day and anything can happen.

Another tip: Nothing has been about anyone's "poem" - aka simple rhetorical device to put down Blue.  Wasn't it a roses are red parody? Dooode!!

Dude, I know it was a parody.  It was weak, but small potatoes.  I have a different take on the abortion issue so j.f., based on that one issue made a stupid assumption.  Its fun to jaw with a goofball, anyway.   So, whats the scoop? The way he/she writes and the way all of you seem to talk about him/her like the weird, secret, deeply disturbed uncle who lives in the attic is amusing.

In other news it looks like Newt and Rick are on their way out so it doesn't look good for Sarah Palin's chances.
I was really pulling for R.P.

Fortook, I know you weren't referring to me in that other post.  No harm; no foul.

Nuts to that.  Squirrels are very skilled at preparing for winter.

It'll probably be Mark Rubio what with the 29 electoral votes and the Latin connection.

If something happened to a "President" Romney and he was critically injured do you think Newt would be at Romney's bedside?

Probably not, that's what doctors and nurses are for. If it becomes President Romney & Newt VP, Newt would be busy taking control of the country and re-decorating the White House.  Maybe just one hospital visit to get a PR pic taken if that scenario were to happen.

Romney won't pick Newt.  That'd be as foolish as picking Palin, probably even more so. The repup primary is a fight for right wingers- who would never vote anything other than repub.

The general is a fight for moderates- who can vote dem.  Newt is not moderate and he pisses women off like no politician I have ever seen.  Women votes are a problem for Romney, enter Ann's speeches and distance from the Newt.
