hey aspiringblacklawyer I have been reading your replies on other people's post and you seem knowledgeable. I had a 2.39 UGPA and now I currently have a 3.5 in grad school. I am in Louisiana, and Im studying now until the October LSAT comes. I have 6 schools that Im applying to.
Southern University
University of Houston
Loyola University(New Orleans)
Texas Southern
LSU
and my reach school is Tulane(New Orleans)

I am aiming to get a 157-162 on the LSAT, my question is do the law schools look at grad gpa's or do I have to put this in my personal statement explaining that I didnt take school seriously at the beginning part of my undergrad years and also explain the upward trend in grades towards the end of my UG years. and now i have a determination that burns in me to do well in school now.

thanks in a ahead for advice

Law schools only focus on grad GPA if you are otherwise qualified to be at the law school.  Law schools determine whether you're qualified by looking at your uGPA, LSAT, and URM status.  Thus, your grad GPA really won't be considered unless you're already competitive for those schools.

bilt05, well im not sure of your racial status but for me it was 100% LSAT. I barely graduated from college. Just breaking the 2 point barrier. I knew the LSAT was my only way into law school. Being from detroit and attending the worst schools in america, I knew I would get some sympathy from law schools. So Just aim as high as you can get. Remember grad school doesnt count. Nobody gets below a 3 in grad school. I put your info in the site law school predictor. I dont know about tulane and lsu but loyola, southern and tsu are definite options for you if you score high 150'S.

And to add to my previous post .... I have been working with personal instructor to assist me in doing well on the LSAT. The guy who is helping has been doing this since before I was even born. But he is really intense during our sessions. He pushes me to do well on the logic reasoning bcuz that is 75% of the LSAT. So far I have been scoring in the 150's on my practice so in October we'll see how that transitions over to the real game time.......

I agree.  Between 04 to 08 this board was on fire.  Now you're lucky to get 10 people on line at the same time.

I agree...I'm starting Law School in August - and when I learned of this site, I was excited.  And shortly after joining, I was disappointed because there is very little activity.  It's quite disappointing.

the board is in decline because of the success of george w. bush and our armed services in iraq... the kurdish people are now running the show in northern iraq and are happy to be rid of a murdering dictator...(along the way people did not like the "wrangler politique" of the enigmatic w...so they complained, they naysayed, they tried anyway they could to put bush out of business...guess what...

THEY FAILED!!!  AND THE NAYSAYERS, AND DOVESELLERS HAVE NOTHING TO DISCUSS ANYMORE...

also, barak obama is following lock, stock and barrel---the bush policies....it is obama's best policy...my personal favorite policy of barak obama was keeping up with the bush doctrine...and if you fail to realize this...the pentagon kept most bush people and gates remained as the sec. of d....

so the far left...the ad-libs and the naysayers have been silenced by success and by barak obama keeping up with the bushies....

suck on that butter, dovesellers.

you see oppressed peoples, once empowered can be a very good asset and the enigmatic "W" knew this...

many on this board through the 00's were haters and liberal twats with their heads in the sand...they did not like bush

already the history books are giving credit to bush for starting the trend of removing "oppressive regimes"...bush started it and the oppressed people in tunisia, egypt, libya, yemen are rising up to put down the tyrants..

...yes the board is in decline because their is no "bush" to kick around anymore...he did his job...was very successful and his legacy is playing out in front of our eyes..

do yourself a favor...

use a search function and get a history lesson on the kurds and you'll see how "freedom from tyranny" is good for your health.!!!!

Sorry guys I couldn't resist.

Seriously now, back to trying to help you- The Law School Project is designed to help AA students get into law school.  I'll admit I'm not big on the exclusiveness aspect, but helping anyone is a good thing.  I have no personal experience with them, but did a little research.  They offer a LAST/Application boot camp.

PS
I have no idea what Bluewarrior is talking about.  Trying to pick a fight maybe?  Doesn't make any sense. I think him and Julie Fern might be the same person..

It is up to YOU to WAKE THE BOARD UP!  Something Positive would be encouraging to most of us!

www.all4jds.com seems to have some decent content.
