Title: December Fee Waivers?
Post by: 'blueskies on December 30, 2008, 07:47:36 AM
Anyone have any anecdotal evidence for fee waivers for December test takers?

No, but you can just email the admissions office, give them your hard and soft factors, and ask them if they can waive your application fee based on merit. I did this successfully at quite a few schools -- even reaches.

I already got a ton by asking for financial fee waivers, just wondering if I might get anything else that I might consider.

I was wondering the same thing.  I begged for enough of my waivers...I just want one good one to be handed to me this cycle lol, even if I've already applied  :D

Does emailing the admissions office really work?  My LSAT is above the 75th percentile for a bunch of schools that I'm applying to.

Brown Sugah and I both got financial, not merit, fee waivers.  But yes, some schools will give merit fee waivers if you ask.

Oh, I got SLU too...something about a 1993 (or whatever year/number lol) scholarship program.  Probably not applying anywhere lower than the highest ranked school that I've been accepted to at this point (especially since I have a full scholarship there).  I haven't even applied to any New York schools since I have no desire to live or move to NYC but.... :-* Columbia lol

WTF  >:(  I didn't get any of these!

Well, I got the SLU one, Cardozo, and a few others, but none of the good one's you all got  :-\  I would think I should be getting the same ones as you, Mag

Check for hidden waivers B.  Columbia was hidden (and UConn).

I didnt get Northwestern and obviously can't check for hidden waivers from schools where I've already applied.

I already applied to UConn and I won't apply to Columbia (both because of my numbers and I don't want to live in NYC). I just wanted to be flattered! :D

LOL...me too.  That's why I checked.  They succeeded but no NYC for me.  BF is from there and refuses to go back and I didn't too much enjoy it when I lived there for a semester either.  Don't think I'm applying to UConn either.  Considered it at the beginning of the cycle but I think I'll pass since at this point, I wouldn't go there over UIUC.

Hopefully I get a few more.  I emailed St. John's about getting one since my LSAT is above their 75th.

I've had a few in the past few days, but not many I was already going to apply to. I'm kind of playing catch-up because I just found out I'll be graduating next summer after all.

I got:
Illinois, Minnesota, UCLA, Cardozo, Northwestern, Columbia, Temple, William and Mary, UConn, Wash U, Lewis and Clark, and Iowa.

What are these "hidden waivers" you speak of and how do I find them?  :)

Edit: nevermind, figured it out.

A few people said that they successfully asked for fee waivers, where were you successful doing that?

I asked for waivers (and received) them at Southwestern and Loyola (LA).  I also just recently asked at USC, but have not gotten a response yet.  Definitely ask for waivers at your safeties (Like SW and Loyola were for me).

In other random fee waiver news: Received Drexel and Vandy (yay!) e-mails today.

I believe USC just requires you be over their medians for both GPA and LSAT.  At least, that's what someone told me when I called a couple of months ago.

I received a ton of fee waivers, some need based and some I just asked and received.

I wrote one statement that I sent to all schools.  Some accepted it right away, some wanted me to send it to them with my app (certification letter) and very few had an actual form.

I did get USC plus UVA, UMich (only asked for GPA and LSAT), WUSTL, Notre Dame and some others (its a long list lol).

I also got an email from Vandy, exactly 30 min after my Complete email lol.  Thankfully, they had already waived my fee too.

I am over their medians for both, so now I'm just being patient for a response :)
