Title: Please debunk this LSDAS GPA rumor...
Post by: 06hopeful on August 17, 2005, 03:35:23 PM
I heard that, when calculating your GPA, LSDAS treats all 3 credit as 4 credit classes.  That is, it converts 3 credit classes to 4 credits so that they are given the same weight. Someone PLEASE tell me this is not true.  Thanks.

wrong, they compute GPA same as regular schools only A+ = 4.33, A = 4.0, A- = 3.66, etc.

I doubt it, that would be stupid.

One thing they do do is, if you went to a school that's on the quarter system, multiply your units by .67.

Yeah, I think it would be stupid, too.  I was just wondering if anyone else had heard anything like that, or could tell me categorically that it is false.

What happens if a school operates on a one class=one credit system?
(Organic Chem (Lab, lecture and class) = a once a week seminar)

My school was one class=one credit (except for occasional half credit or double credit classes, but the only double credit ones were the five day a week intensive languages as far as I know).  My LSDAS GPA ended up exactly the same as the one calculated by my school, so my guess is they're all weighted the same.
