Title: When Do You Expect June LSAT Scores To Be Released?
Post by: HYSHopeful on June 23, 2008, 07:20:32 PM
Of course, the official release date is July 7th...

But, I'm going to go ahead and guess that they will release scores early on July 3rd and let us relax and celebrate (or drink away our sorrows) over the holiday weekend.

What is everyone else guessing?

Vote!

July 6th at 6:66 PM.

does LSAC made it an occasional habit to release data early? i assumed they do everything exactly down to specific rules and regulations, being the LSAC and all.

since for both of my previous tests they have released the scores early, i'm guessing it'll be an early release for this one as well.

For the September 2007 test, I took the test on 9/29, which was a Saturday.   LSAC said that scores would come out on 10/22, which was the Monday 3 weeks+2 days after we took the test. Scores were actually emailed on 10/19, on a Friday.*

So considering the holiday weekend, I think 7/3 is a reasonable bet.

*I didn't actually get a score, but they email the score cancellation confirmations at the same time as the scores.  "Your September 29, 2007 LSAT score is cancelled."  Thanks, LSAC!

From what I've heard, scores generally do come in before the published release date. LSAC does this on purpose. For example, in case something goes wrong with scoring LSAC will have time to fix it. They also don't want to be flooded with calls. And so on.

Too bad I didn't take the June test.

If I did well I hope they release it on the third so I can have a very happy 21st bday over the weekend. If I bombed it I hope they don't release it until the 7th so it doesn't ruin my birthday (and I don't drink myself to death).

That would be a great 21st birthday gift.

Wow, 12 days early... I would LOVE that.

That would mean we would get our scores back any day now. Sadly, I think the soonest we can hope for is July 3rd.

From reading other threads, it seems as though they have a habit of posting the Friday prior to the official release date. Of course, "July 4, 2008 LSAC Offices Closed for Independence Day." Therefore, July 3rd seems to be the most reasonable guess.

If I scored above 176 I am buying a ticket to Vegas to spend the extended weekend there. Anyone else have any celebratory plans?

I'm going to Coney Island! (okay so it's not exactly Disney World but its got rides and a beach so one can pretend....)

Also if you get above 176, don't you think going to Vegas would be pressing your luck just a little? I'd think you'd have used up your allowance for a little while

Haha, You may be right.

I was thinking that if I got lucky on the LSAT, perhaps my luck would carry over to Vegas as well.

Hmmm on the LSAC home-page it says the site will be down to scheduled maintenance on Sunday. I sorta remember someone saying earlier last junes scores were posted directly following the site being down for  maintenance.

[poll edit - dates added]

Since some people seem to believe that a [holiday] weekend score release is a legitimate possibility  ???, I added July 4th, 5th, and 6th to the poll.

Nevertheless, I really doubt that those dates are in play, given the fact that the weekend in question is a holiday weekend, and the LSAC offices are closed on Friday, July 4th.

My guess would be either July 2nd or July 7th.  Most people take off Thursday when July 4th is on Friday...but the only thing for certain is - we will get our scores...and then some of us will breathe a sigh of relief and others will have to start studying yet again...I hope I'm in the former group.

I'm dead serious about this! She's ready to go, we've been dating for eight years this August. I just haven't done it yet because I don't see how I can pay for a wedding while in school... the ring is going to be tough enough.

About the 178 on my quote, that is just a clever plot to rick-roll people.. but I'm changing it, I guess it too misleading

Good luck with the engagement. You can shock her with a 178 and a 1.78 carat ring.

If only I hadn't taken the last month off of work to study for the LSAT and hadn't spent all my money on prep materials... then perhaps I'd make an honest woman out of my girlfriend as well.

I suppose I'll have to wait until [god willing] I am able to get down on bended knee and ask... "Will you move to Cambridge with me?"

You might want to change your tar to something that at least looks like you have motivation, FYI.
I'm not so sure they they like people with there heads back and there eyes closed, doesn't seem like a person that is worth anything, but that is just my idiot opinion.

That's my sleepy time picture, I'm in my super cool leather recliner passed out with a text book and Jack Russell in my lap. But, from what I hear, it's those quiet people who seem like they lack motivation that you have to watch out for. Other law students have told me gunners are often disappointed when the grades come out and those kids that sat back were towards the head of the curve.

LSAT gods be damned, I like my tar' (and I'm not very photogenic; that is the best picture I have).

P.S I don't mean it LSAT gods, I've been saying my three daily prayers to my stack of prep materials every day.

Not trying to bum anybody out, but I was curious when they were released after last June's test. Turns out it was Saturday, which would translate to July 5th for us.

IMHO: I wouldn't come in to work during a holiday weekend just to post scores, so I wouldn't expect LSAC to do so.   True, they posted the scores on Saturday, but that was a regular weekend.  For the three-day weekend, LSAC employees will have plans to leave town, etc.

Last June, when scores came out on Saturday, the update boxes were filled early on Friday afternoon:

http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,90182.0.html

I'm just guessing, but: maybe they had planned to post on Friday but something went wrong?

You may be right that 7/3 is optimistic; we'll have to wait and see.  But if they aren't posted by Thursday night, and the update boxes aren't filled by 7/3 before the fireworks (my town does them on the night before, for some reason), I don't think that we will see scores until Monday.

One would think that each year their ability to report scores would become more and more rapid. (???) Either way,  I can't stop compulsively checking my LSAC account, you never know..

There is a poster named Tetris that's good about letting people know that scores have been released. If I were you I'd start looking for posts by Tetris later this week.

Looks like the LSAT was rescheduled for some testing centers because of the recent floods in the midwest.

Per the University of Iowa website:
"LSAT Rescheduled. The LSAT administration scheduled for June 16 in the Boyd Law Building has been rescheduled for Monday, June 30th. The Law School Admissions Council will contact those registered for that session about alternative arrangements. For driving directions to the law building and information on parking, see http://www.law.uiowa.edu/prospective/driving.php. Please allow extra time because of interruptions in normal traffic patterns caused by recent flooding."

Because LSAC must allow six days for test takers to cancel their scores, does this mean that the we will not receive our scores until Sunday?!?!?!?!?!

If so, this will be the worst thing since unsliced bread.

I just checked LSAC again, I now have a date for my "score sent by email". 07/07/2008

Thoughts?

I'm going to treat it like that guy at the party no one likes and everyone is slightly annoyed by. When Iowa walks up and tries to join the conversation I'll just pretend I didn't hear him and continue on talking as if he wasn't there. Me, Texas and Maryland sometimes leave flaming bags of s-hit on Iowa's doorstep, ring the doorbell and run.

Are you saying your score is released? I went to LSAC and there is some funkiness going on on my account status page. The border test information is now dotted... I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that before.

if it works like the last time I took the LSAT, the update box will fill in with the 7/7/08 on the day the scores are released (even if it's 7/3, the update box will still fill in with 7/7/08, and the e-mail date will change from 7/7/08 to the day that the scores are actually mailed)

I was holding out hope that the LSAC leaders would give their employees a 4 day holiday and we'd get our scores tomorrow, but apparently someone from the TLS board called them and they said they will be at work Thursday. Darn.

I doubt the Iowa make-up date will have an effect on us because (1) they probably took a different test and (2) If they test on 30 June and still get everyone's scores (including Iowa) out on 7/7, then why are waiting almost 3 weeks when it appears LSAC can rush and get it done in about 1 week?

If anyone took the test at Iowa, can they confirm they have the same LSAC anticipated release date (7/7) or was that changed?

I really don't think that Iowa will have an impact on our score release. There were questions and answers posted all over the place. No way you can have a standardized test with leaked questions.

Damn. I'm losing all hope of getting my score back prior to July 7th.

It definitely seems like they scheduled the Iowa make-up exam on June 30th to give the test takers 6 days to cancel their score prior to releasing them on the 7th.

I was REALLY hoping for a nice relaxing holiday weekend... but I have some pretty serious doubts now...

Regardless of what test they took, I have a feeling that they will wait until ALL scores are ready prior to releasing them.

Perhaps you should set your hopes lower than HYS - the LSAC had since the 16th to rush the other 39,900 scores.  Danger is right, @#!* Iowa, if they delay our scores.

Nah, better to have something to occupy your time with. I'm off Tuesday and Wednesdays, and even though I don't think the score will be released I still check email and LSAC about every 2 hours. '

In an case, it is crunch time people! I really doubt the LSAC will start releasing scores after a three day weekend (wishful thinking?) so today or tomorrow should be the day! I'm also thinking they may have an automated system that releases scores slowly over the course of a day to prevent overloading their servers, which means it could be released over the weekend? Someone who knows the history of LSAT score releases may be able to shed some light on that, i.e. if they have ever been released on a weekend. Also, the whole Iowa thing (@#!* Iowa) is making me nervous. Not so much if they can process their stuff in time, but if they are going to wait until the cancellation period is over to release the scores. Damn it, I expected my 4th of July to either be bragging to my family about my score or drowning my sorrows in hotdogs and beer. I'm hoping it's not checking my Blackberry every 15 minutes.

Mmmmm... Hot Dogs & Beer...

I think I'll drown in those either way.  If it's a celebration, it'll be Harp and Ballpark.  If I bombed, it'll be Gennie and generic, non-beef franks.  That'll show me.

Argo,

I'm not certain if you did not read my post properly, or if you are just particularly dense.

My reply was to the comment "...(2) If they test on 30 June and still get everyone's scores (including Iowa) out on 7/7, then why are waiting almost 3 weeks when it appears LSAC can rush and get it done in about 1 week? "

The author of this comment appears to believe that since the LSAC seems to be able to score the June 30th examinees' tests and release them in one week, then everyones scores should be able to be prepared in a similarly expedient manner.

The author of the comment posed a question: "...why are [we] waiting almost 3 weeks when it appears LSAC can rush and get it done in about 1 week? "

In response to this inquiry, I wrote: "Re: (2)  -   Just because LSAC can prepare 100 scores from one testing location in one week doesn't mean that they can prepare 40,000 scores from EVERY testing center in one week."

Why does it take them 3 weeks and not 1 week? Because of the sheer quantity of exams.

I hope you didn't have this difficult of a time understanding arguments on the LSAT.

In December, a number of states had their tests postponed due to a blizzard on the Plains - it didn't stop LSAC from releasing December 20th, a Thursday before a holiday weekend.

Just to let everyone know, I actually called LSAC and asked if it were possible that scores would be released prior to the 7th and Aletha (lady at LSAC) said half giggling, "oh sure, you definitely could check your email in the next day or so." So I asked her again to confirm that possibly within today or tomorrow I could starting checking and she said yes. She sounded like she'd been fielding the question all day. So, that's straight from the horse's mouth (no disrepect Aletha).

Perhaps you should set your hopes lower than HYS - the LSAC had since the 16th to rush the other 39,900 scores.

I don't know if you have problem with logic or just suffer from some extra pompousity.  The author's initial point was not about LSAC releasing ALL the scores in a week.  His reference to Iowa as a strengthener in his argument that they SHOULD be able to release them EARLIER considering the fact that the Iowa scores can be produced in one week.  Your comment, while not entirely illogical, is f-ing irrelevant, and therefore wrong.

How do they go about releasing the results? Is it by location? Last Name? If you have your score, where did you take the test? Care to publish your last name?

thanks,

*shrugs* Some have suggested that it's done by LSAC account number or test center number.  One assumes there IS an order, but LSAC only knows what it is...

I got my December 07 score at 6:12pm. Don't give up just because it hasn't happened yet.

You get your score the day the update box is filled. That's why it's important.

am i the only one who doesn't get why the update boxes are so important?

In the past, everyone's scores came out the day of (or day after) their update box changed from empty to a date. Thus there is a correlation between the update box and score release that, if it holds true, means we will get our scores today or tomorrow.

I'll have to double check 2005 or 2006 but June 2007 was an exception in that they got their scores the day after the update box was filled, as opposed to the day of. So as far as I know my point stands, if anyone can link to the 05 or 06 threads we can check

If that's the case, isn't it likely that someone on this board would have posted that they did indeed receive their score by now?

From your experience, does the LSAC release them all at once?  Just curious.

They're not released at the same time. In the past, they've come in batches.

They're not released at the same time. In the past, they've come in batches.

And seemingly with no rhyme or reason so don't worry about trying to find a pattern once the first guy gets his score. In December 07, I was one of the first on the board to get my score and my last name starts with S and my test center # was kinda high.

Someone set up a public photobucket account so the first person with a score could post the scale. You guys probably aren't doing anything but refreshing, maybe someone could do that.

My update box was filled in with a date on Monday of this week...so I'm not so sure there is a correlation between it being filled and the date that our LSAT scores are released.

Anyone else notice this?

There's an "email date" box that should have 7/7/08 in it for a while now.  The update box is below that, next to the Description box.  That just filled in today for all of us who took the June LSAT.  Those who have taken the test in the past say that when that happens, the scores follow.  And at midnight, if the moon is full, you'll hear the howl of the damned...
...who have to take it over...

Oh, I hope I'm not one of them.

Oh ok. Well, if you look under "My Docs" and click on "LSAT", under the update box there it says 7/7/08. Mine has been like that since Monday, so I'm not sure if that is related to the e-mail date box located under "account status" then "LSAT".

Either way, I hope we get them soon.

So, what the hell happened to everyone who was 99.9% sure that our scores were going to be reported yesterday, 7/2/08? And, since they were so magnificently wrong about that, why should we believe the talk that our scores are coming today?

Having said that... Scores will be out today! Keep refreshing...

I just watched the paper chase the other day because I have heard it is a must see pre-law movie, and I just wasn't that impressed. I agree that it may be a good portrayal of what law school will be like, but the entertainment factor just wasn't there for me. Am I the only one that didn't like it? I have seen plenty of other law school/lawyer related movies that were much better. I don't know what all the hype about it is.

"Naturally" was another requiem reference. If you recall, it was always an audio byte near the end of the hip hop montage when they were dealing.

At any rate... Your last quote successfully eluded me, and this quote has got to be from Fargo. Right?

the title of this poll should be "when do you HOPE lsat scores will be released?"  only 5 people voted for the likely choice which is the 4th-7th.  the past incidences of the scores being released early does not necessitate that they'll be released early this test.  trust me, i'm hoping for today too, but let's all be a little realistic and not have our expectations bashed when they don't come out until monday.

From what I understand LSAC has not sent them on the date quoted in recent years. In December we were told Jan 2nd and when my score came on Dec. 20th I was dumbfounded--early scores happen! AND my 'update' box under my documents still reads Jan 2--only the 'score e-mail date' changed to reflect the actual date that the scores were e-mailed.

Seconded.

If some people get their scores today and others not until tomorrow, well I think the latter's heads may actually explode.

At least we'll know the scale.  That's the biggest worry for me.

You're more worried about the scale than your score?

Wow.

Haha.  I guess I meant that I'm fairly certain of how many I probably got wrong, so the scale will be the biggest factor affecting my score.  Actually, I do spend more time worrying about the scale than about what my actual score is.  Weird.  I guess that'll all change once I get the e-mail.

that makes me think that we all won't recieve scores until tomorrow...

in all of the threads from previous tests, i've never read anything where some received scores one day and others the next.

I feel the same way about the scale.

I haven't really read any threads, but I know for a fact that some people could receive scores a day after others.  My friend took the June 2007 test and she received her score the day after many threads were cheering and moaning about their scores.

So now the question is: do I start drinking when I get off work?  I'll feel a little silly if I'm stumbling around and the scores don't even come in tonight.

If you need something to watch on youtube, here ya go.  This could quite possibly be the most groundbreaking movie ever made.  I mean, who doesn't this appeal to?  http://youtube.com/watch?v=K7tleFb6TlI

I'm going to the fireworks tonight.  (My town holds them on the 3rd.)  It should be a blast (hee) no matter what, but it would be even better if I know my score before I leave...

That video is slightly frightening.  Here is a trailer/ad that never fails to make me happy, no matter how many times I see it:
