Title: IMPORTANT - Game3 question - paintings
Post by: $ones on June 15, 2004, 09:27:17 PM
Game 3
Short Description: Paintings
Z, S, R, V, Q, T
Rules:
Z < S
Q <= T
V = 2nd
S = Collector
Z = Museum
Questions: X-X
---------------------------------------

These are the rules as they appear on the reconstruction effort on that yahoo group. Z < S. I remember specifically on the exam that I had it being S < Z. Can anyone concur?

Does anyone know if this is against LSAC rules in any way?

And if so...can you make it so that membership isn't required to read the messages.

It's definitely not against LSAC rules.  Unless someone stole an LSAT test booklet and is copying stuff from it, we're not breaking LSAC rules or copyright law.

The only reason I ask is because my proctor said "you are not allowed to discuss this test with anyone".
I am assuming he said this though so that no one could do the old time-zone trick on the same day of the exam.

I'm with you, I clearly remember that I did it as S < Z.  Now you have made me paranoid.

Now that I think about it, I think it was T <= Q also.  It was worded as Q is not from a period earlier than T or something.

Thanks guys, I was just trying to get the ball rolling with the games setup, didn't really remember all the specifics.

Did anyone else notice that the rule of Z to museum made a lot of answers obsolete? Many questions where centered around what paintings the collector could by so therefore you could cross out any answer with Z. This made it very easy to reduce some of the answers. Anyone feel the same?

Yup, I think I probably did the same to eliminate some answer choices.

So what about the z and s rule. was it z ealier than s, or s earlier than z?

I think S had to be created in a period earlier than Z. But my memory is getting a little foggy about the test, so I am not positive.

That's what I had (s < z), but these guys have it different.

I've checked with other people on that wrote in my area and we're all at a concensus that it was s < z. Also, the q <= t: I think thalky had this rule right, but I couldn't get a concensus on it. I'm about 80% that it is right.

DId anyone else use templates for this game??  I set up like 3 or 4 templates and just used them for all the questions.  didnt really have to think too hard once i was done with my setups, just looked at what was there.   this can be both good and bad as it could bite me in the ass if my setups were off.

No I freestyled this game. Re did the set up for each question. I set up templates for game 4 tho. I had 2 of them:

X        Y         Z
--      ---       ---
I        F         I
T        H         T
         I
------------------------
X        Y         Z
--      ---       ---
I        F         I
T        H         T
         S

T could not be in Y
F and P could not be together
I and T had to be together in atleast 2 of the buildings

i like that the bottom of your game setup very subtly spells out "@-#-$-%"

Sones, wasn't one of the conditions for that game that there were two F's and that there were more I's than T's or something?

oh yes you're right.... there were atleast 2 f's (but in actuality there could be no more than 2 (f + p = no no, and each truck was in atleast 1 building)

also I > S
