Incidentally, wouldnt it be great if lsac occasionally flashed 180's on random people's accounts for a few minutes or so, just to screw with people who check obsessively?  Hahah making people doubt their sanity is always good stuff.

Oh yeah, I said I didn't care. I bet they're sending out scores 180 downward. Probably won't be until tomorrow I get mine- or tuesday- I would not be surprised if I filled my name out wrong or something.

Number 12 on Section 4 doesn't make any sense!!  It was the question about the computer experts choosing cutting edge technologies because that's what excites them.  The parallel answer is said to be "television experts choose programs that viewers want not what is artistic."  But that isn't parallel!  It's definitely the librarian picking books because they like them.

How do I address this??

Post by: Lilli on June 25, 2005, 12:47:22 PM
I just got ill looking at that scale. I have only seen them skip a score once, and they have done it twice in 1 test- agggh. They should have left the tortiose question in, and kept a normal scale. This is probably why scores took longer this time around and the percentile changes, they had to normalize the scores.
Title: Re: June 05 scores are up
Post by: kyukang on June 25, 2005, 12:47:26 PM
I KNOW!  I can't believe it.  The answer they chose doesn't even seem parallel.  The computer experts choose programs THEY prefer.  Television experts choose programs the VIEWERS prefer.  It doesn't make sense.

Who do I write to, to get this reviewed?!?!

Also, looking at the conversion scale... if I got 16 wrong and my raw score is an 84... Shouldn't my LSAT score be a 165 instead of the 164 they posted?  Can someone take a look and tell me if I'm wrong?

I don't recall a scale in the practice LSATs coming even close to this one.  The worst I remember was I think 24 wrong for 160..
Title: Re: June 05 scores are up
Post by: hizzle on June 25, 2005, 12:50:38 PM
Kyukang,

99-16 = 93.  Remember that there was a question withdrawn from the original 100, leaving us with only 99 questions.

Like I said before, when I came out of the test, I called my wife and told her the good news was I think I did well, the bad news was that I was certain that everyone else did too!  Brutal scale.

I got an astonishing 10 questions wrong in Section 4.  It's amazing.  I don't know what happened!!

Section 1 - 3 wrong
Section 3 - 3 wrong
Section 4 - 10 wrong!!!!!
Section 5 - 0 wrong

I'm thinking something must've distracted me during Section 4.  If I retake and  get just 10 wrong, I could get a much higher score.  And they'd average them, right?

Regarding the librarian parallel question, the credited response, according to my answer sheet, is the librarians picking what they want instead of serving the community. I don't know why the answer is different on your score sheets.

Scales don't matter AT ALL.

Percentiles are percentiles.

you were going to place in that percentile no matter what the scale is for that specific day.

I'll have to disagree from the standpoint that many had an idea of how many questions they had missed and were therefore estimating there scores and making decisions on whether or not to cancel.  The plain an simple truth is that many had expectations that were higher based on their RAW scores, and are thus substantially disappointed.

Gotta say it's odd I got the # wrong I predited on the whole, but I overshot my score b/c of the curve.  Didn't expect a generous curve, but didn't see this earthquake coming either.

I'll have to disagree from the standpoint that many had an idea of how many questions they had missed and were therefore estimating there scores and making decisions on whether or not to cancel.  The plain an simple truth is that many had expectations that were higher based on their RAW scores, and are thus substantially disappointed.

Hi - Just a mom here trying to monitor the boards for my kid who is out of town - and away from a computer.  Can anyone confirm that the e-mails and the LSAC postings are happening at the same time?

She has the e-mail forwarded to her cell...but wanted to know if she should find a library now - if the scores are being posted before the e-mails.

And, as a mom, I sure hope that all of you are pleased or at least satisfied with your scores and if not, ...well, better not even go there.  Just hang in there!

Now the question is this- if the LSAC says that all its tests are of equal difficulty then why is it that when the scale is made harsh- like this many of us score lower than we ever could have expected based on prior scores. Is the test only similarly difficult to others at high score levels or for people with strengths in one section versus another? Screw the lsac and their standards- where's my score by the way?

The reason the scale changes is because the LSAT is graded on a curve.  Percentile marking = score.

I know how you feel. I think if I prepped for the next lsat I could get a MUCH higher score, but I don't want to risk it and endure this stress again. How i'm thinking now is I'll enter a law school that I can be competitive at and not worry about failing at amongst students who did receive 180's.

LR1 19/25
LR2 22/26

It kinda sucks because LR was always my strongest section and if I had performed up to par it would have been the perfect test. I had never nailed both the RC and the games before. I think the scale was fair, but it would have been nice to get an easier one.

Here's my breakdown:

RC:  8x
LR:  3x; 4x
LG:  1x

Reading killed me, and I knew it the second I left the exam.  Were it not for the brutal curve, I'd be satisfied.

@#!* me. 168. 4x, 5x, 1x, 1x.

I guess I was really nervous on the first few sections.  still between 7 and 12 wrong  is about where I had been testing so I cant be too mad with 11 wrong.

so the question is, where am I gonna get into school?

2.45 GPA and 168 LSAT (yes, theres a story)

170 for myself. I'm off to celebrate. I'll leave the analyzing up to everybody else. :-)  Congratulations to the rest of you, it looks like you all did very well.

Serious this time - I got a 157 (72nd percentile).  My score went up from 155 to 157 but my percentile went from 65th to 72nd.

166.

how many wrong:
RC: 4
LR: 9
LG: 0

i'm very pleased, especially since when i started studying in april i had a target of 164.  my last few practice tests were 169, 170, 173, so i thought i might score higher, but i'm still happy and definitely relieved.  the intense practice before the test did pay off, and i got all the LG section right. even though no law schools would care about that, it makes me feel good to know i conquered the games :)

168.

AR: -0
RC: -5
LR: -3, -3

i accidentally bubbled two answers on the same line in the first LR, so i had a row with 2 bubbles and a blank row and got those both wrong.  incedentally, i got the answers themselves right and therefore should have had a 170.  f-ing *&^%.

I got a 153 with no prep on arguments and it showed.

I missed 20 questions in those two sections!

My practices were all around 160, but I have better things to do than cry about this test. Life goes on.

176. RC:x2 LR:x2 LG:x0(yeah!!)

I was so tired by the end my writing sample is practically unreadable.  I guess when my only complaint is about my handwriting I should shut it.

Now the hard part, explaining who I am and why adcoms should care about me.

171, mildly disappointed, but it was only because the scale was tougher than I anticipated.

Well my score is elsewhere but I can stick a breakdown:

RC: 22/26
LR 23/25 and 24/26
LG 21/22 (which is nuts for me).

it might be worth it to see if you can get your scantron hand scored.  they may actually count those points for you...

Just noticed that 160 = 77 raw.

That has never happened before!

I think people are forgetting last October's curve.  This is almost identical to October '04 curve.  77 raw score got you a 160 as well.

Sadly, I don't think they will and it probably isn't worth the $30. Determining that he got the right responses requires more than looking at the scantron and seeing that there was an obvious intent to answer a certain way, but that the electronic system missed it. The only reason he knows he got the questions right is because he remembers the questions, and this isn't enough evidence for LSAC to go on.  :(

i know... i had the correct answers circled in the test booklet too, but i doubt they'll consider that even though it shows my obvious intent.

Oh.  You're right.  Thank god.  Sorry about the confusion everyone.  The librarians were right.

And sorry HatesSermons.  That's the last you'll hear about the questions from me.

Think it was cleared up.

Hey guys,
Could someone please be kind enough to post a link to the June LSAT and answer sheet or email both of these to me at Faizsiddiqui2001@yahoo.co.uk. This is normally one of the ISt things people do after the LSAT, but for some strange reason, people aren't/haven't been doing it this time.

C'mon guys, have a heart and post a link to the LSAT or send me the PDF's to Faizsiddiqui2001@yahoo.co.uk.

Thanks,

Faiz

Score 161

My Breakdown is the weirdest for anyone taking this test, because even with the easy games by EXTREME WEAKNESS hurt me.

RC 25/26
LR 46/50
AR/LG 10/22

I should probably take them again, shouldn't I? I can get better at the games with time.

You could probably improve your games with preparation (not that the score was bad by any means).

Did you do significant games prep before hand?  If not you should def take again, with enough prep you could most def break into 170s.  RC and LR are known as the sections that are more natural ability whereas games can be learned.

I still think the curve was unfair...RC and LG balanced each other out, and LR was average.  A brutal scale for an average test.

Dave:

You neglect to note that, for the vast majority of LSAT takers, the most difficult section is Games.  If you're GOOD at games, you're in the minority.

Consequently, a section with EASY games and HARD RC benefits more people than with HARD games and EASY RC.

While these tests are equivalent in difficulty, then, it comes as no surprise that generally speaking, the easier a games section, the harder the curve.

176.  I'm thrilled.  I was out when it came in and my gf had to check my email on her cell phone to get me the score, so I was standing there dripping with sweat (from 90+ heat and nerves) waiting for her to navagate through to the email.

Damn that is a brutal curve though.  My god.

I got 2x on LR, 1x on RC (the second question! I feel a little foolish about that), and 1x on LG (the tape game...).

Still, way no complaints here.

167, I am very happy.  My average for the past 5 tests issued 40-45 was about 166 so I couldn't have hoped for better.
