Title: Choking on health insurance
Post by: BigRedWarEagle on May 12, 2005, 09:58:02 AM
I'm married with a child and need health insurance for school.  Anybody have good ideas as to how to obtain it without mortgaging my future?  My #1 choice has H.I. that costs $5,100 per year for the family plan.  The whole law school experience will only cost 4K!  Talk about a downer.

So you got scholarships for LS and it will only cost you $4,000 for law school and you are upset about $5000 for health insurance?    Just take a couple loans out.  Most people here are taking on at least $60,000 in debt for Law school.

Simple: Get a health insurance policy that is not offered by the school.

Shop around for a regular Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Kaiser, Aetna, whatever policy.

The school may oblige you to have health insurance, but it can't oblige you to have THEIRS... (That, my friend, is against the law.)

Is insurance that expensive for a family?  My insurance (just me) is only going to cost around $1,000 a year.

Hey Hippy - I have a family to take care of, unlike those 'other people' having to take out 60K in loans.  You ever had to pay for an infant on $0.00 per year?  That 60K will be me, too.
