Not exactly... Pops went to b-school, not law.

So what exactly do you want to know about the legacy issue at Harvard? Legacy status is considered a "soft factor" in the admission process.

It doesn't appear to be a factor at all because there's nowhere to include the info on the app..

Exactly. But if you know someone at Harvard, all it takes is a phone call. Did you apply to Harvard?

Yep..  I don't know anyone there and I haven't mentioned it to my dad cuz we're not really tight like that.

Well you never know. RBG and myself both got accepted and we are on opposite sides of the field in terms of extras, stats, etc... He wrote a book...I'm just a regular UG LOL. You never know what they are looking for. But rumor has it that they already filled 60% of their incoming class already.

Yeah you're right, it's totally subjective.  But in one of these cases, the guy's a Marshall/Fulbright with 3.9/174 from Northwestern.  I would be absolutely floored if he didn't get into HLS.

Yeah, I'd call that super qualified...

Thanks for both the info and the warm welcome  :)

I'm being so sarcastic.

But I haven't done anything "spectacular" I did the "typical" college stuff. Joined a sorority, founded two orgs, leadership, student senate, work experience, trilingual. Nothing special. I didn't write a book or live in Ireland for a year. LOL.

Mob..I think RBG is a meat head...we are having a debate about Columbia Vs. Harvard...

In your opinion, do you think there is a significant benefit attending Harvard over Columbia?

Yes, in every respect, H is meaningfully better than C. Columbia is still a great school though.

But if yale comes into the picture..it's over. I pretty much made up my mind that I'm going there. I can live in CT for three years. if I get too bored, I'll head to NYC.

Eh - if I were to somehow get into Yale against all odds and logic, I would visit H and S and make my decision. Yale isn't to the point where it's a no brainer and I would just send in my check. Now if I got into H and Columbia, that's a no brainer!

Regal, what's the deal with you and NYU though...are they out? Why?

I withdrew from NYU. I think they are trying to act as though they didn't get my letter. I will get a rejection letter in a month I bet. jackasses!

lexi, mine did as well. i'm pretty sure that counts for nothing (i.e. we're not legacies). most law schools only care whether someone in your immediate family attended that law school. sorry!
