Hmm. It could be that Emory saw the high number of other schools that you're applying to.

Dear Emory adcomms,

I would appreciate something like this and I'm sure many others would as well.  I don't understand how such a letter would "frustrate" anyone.  It's nice to know you're wanted.

Did you notice his pass rating tonight?  I didn't know it could go so high.

The 72' Dolphins weren't that impressive, since they played against many teams with losing records.

The 1972 Dolphins are easily the most overrated team in history. There are so many players on that team that have made an entire career, heck, lifespan, off of going 17-0 against the weakest schedule of any Super Bowl winner ever. Honestly, they are probably not one of the top 10 teams in NFL history. 84/89/94 49ers, 92/93 Cowboys, 07 Patriots, 85 Bears, etc.

Not to mention the excruciating experience of having to hear about how the 72 Dolphins are breathing a little easier. It's time for that record to fall to possibly the greatest NFL team ever assembled!

To rucoach: NE has played all the best teams in the NFL this year. If they have to play Green Bay in the Super Bowl, they will have played the next 6 best teams in the NFL this year (Colts, Cowboys, Packers, Jaguars, Chargers, Giants)... just so you know.

I would add 98 Broncos and 01 Rams to that list, but, yes, I agree completely.

Hm, I don't know. I like both those teams, as great teams, but I don't know about top 10. I seriously can't see the Rams offense scoring more than 20 points on the 89/94 49ers, the 85 Bears, or maybe even this Pats team. The 98 Broncos were playing for John Elway, which is great, but I doubt they were top 10. But I like your style Wallace.

I guess I want them to go all the way.  I really hate the '72 Dolphins (overrated as Luke said) and would like to see them relinquish their claim on the undefeated season.  I do really like the Colts and LT (though the rest of the Chargers aren't nearly as classy), but in the end, I'd choose the end of the champagne era over a team that I might prefer were the situation otherwise.

He looked good tonight. But even with 50 touchdowns, he didnt beat Peyton Manning's single season passer rating record.

God I hope someone beats the Patriots. And I hope it is The Colts.

Eh, at least we got the Super Bowl last year. I thought I might never live to see that.

Damn Manning WTF KICK THE GOD DAMN FIELD GOAL - YOU HAD THREE TIME OUTS AND THE 2 MIN WARNING.

Same ol', same ol'. Once a Manning, always a Manning.

First, Dungy made the 4th down call, not Manning,

And Manning is a Super Bowl MVP, so we can stop calling him a choker, right?

Really? A blind hog finds an acorn every once in a great while, eh? Manning's career has been, by-and-large, defined by incredible failure and choking. Manning was a NOTORIOUS choke artist at UT, could never win the big game versus UF, and rarely played well against any real opponent, including lesser Big 10 schools in bowl games. Up, and until, last year he never won a big game in a decisive situation and never beat a difficult opponent either. As we all well know, it took him playing a decidedly downtrodden and depleted Patriots team to beat them.

Note, I am not a Pats fan, unfortunately, I am a Falcons fan, always have been. But, this is the truth. I have seen Peyton all my life, and he has always, always been a notorious chocker. Sorry guy.

Also, why is it people take to calling someone out when they talk trash. Why is Brady less of a player? Why is Phillip Rivers? Just get over it, the Colts will never have what the Pats, or other dynasty level teams have. Enjoy the Super Bowl last year.

San Diego is a bunch of classless clowns that deserve trash talking and mock-dancing on their field. With that said, slapping the kicker on the shoulder after a missed fg is total bs.

Bring on SD...again.  ;D

Agreed on SD. They take the normal trash talking to classless. I hope Shawne Merriman blows out a knee doing his stupid dance. But he'd probably just repair it with steroids that he got from Luis Castillo.

And the thing about Bob Sanders slapping the Nate Kaeding on the shoulder...they went to college together, so they know each other. Therefore, I think it is more in the realm of competitive ribbing between people who know each other. (they went to Iowa...waybe wally knew them?)

Horseshiiiiite. Dude, seriously. It doesn't matter if they went college together and roomed together, but they are playing against one another in the playoffs and we're to believe this is a classy move by a great player? Do you really believe that? Why do people do this? You mock Shawne Merriman, Tom Brady, etc. and yet, one of your players does the exact same stupid thing, and he's ok because they went to college together?

Did bob Sanders and Nate Kaeding hang out at Iowa? Really? A Kicker and a Safety? Maybe if it has been Dallas Clark, I might agree, but Sanders? Wow.

I'm rootin for the giants.  They have a lot of injuries, and this wears out the people that are not injured. They will be playing in terrible conditions up there, and Green bay is a formidle match, but the Giants are a team of people who get the job done with no excuses.  I would just like to see them put in bradshaw more often, and send him to the outside, instead of trying to send that little guy up the middle.  They need to use his speed to their advantage.  Plus, they need to be sending more people in on the blitz on defense.  The first half of the cowboys game, romo was untouched and they never sent more than four using that zone blitz.  Second half, they sent people alot more often and Romo cracked under the pressure and the giants racked up sacks and stops on barber.

The Packers have the credited defense to defeat the Patriots. They have the corners to play man against Moss/Stallworth, which leaves the safeties free to jam Welker, cover the TE or back coming from the backfield, or blitz. They also have a stout front line that should be able to get to Brady quickly. I also like the speed of their LB's.

And the Packers actually match up favorable with the Patriots on offense, too.

This will be an epic match-up.

So wait...McCarthy is going to play straight man on Moss (6'4") with Harris (6'1")? Then he's going to jam the line with the safties, leaving the DB's with no help on either Moss or Stallworth over the top? That's basically what teams did against the Pats for the first 10 weeks. It didn't work.

Lol. Nothing's worked so far, really. I mean, I guess the Ravens and Eagles had success, but they're two of the more physical, blitz-heavy defenses in the league, and often played man in blitzing situations.

Yes. You have to pick your poison. Belichick's genius is that instead of being a stubborn, "we're setting the pace" type of coach, like most are, he looks at what the defense is taking away and adjusts his game to that. If you're covering against the big play and only rushing 4 he'll play the underneath checkdown, screen, draw game. If you're aggressive he'll open it up and hit Welker on the slant and Moss over the top. And Maroney is good enough to keep defenses honest on the run.

Point being, you have to choose. I think Charles Woodson or Al Harris are capable enough to play man on Moss, with some safety help from Bigby to light up Moss. Green Bay has a strong enough secondary to take away the big play on their own (or at least subdue it), allowing the front 7 to take away that underneath game and get pressure on Brady. Bottom line, you have to get pressure on Brady or he'll tear you apart.

I also think Green Bay's front 4 is strong enough to get to Brady on their own, leaving the linebackers free to watch the run, guard the dump off, and overload blitz.

So yeah, I do think that will be part of his strategy. I'm sure he'll run some cover 2 and hope the front four gets pressure, too, for what it's worth.

You're argument sounds better now than you've elaborated on it. My point is that leaving anyone on an island with Moss is a terrible idea. Even Champ would be overmatched. I do respect the Pack's defense, particularly their linebacking core. There's just a little too much hype around them now that they've beaten a declining Seahawks team. Granted they will win next week because Eli can't play in the cold air of Lambeau, but that's where the run ends. I love Brett Favre, (even though he's the Nolan Ryan of the NFL), the Patriots are just a better team by at least 3 tds.

If the weather keeps going like this in Green Bay (http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080114/GPG0101/80114125/1978), then it should be an interesting showdown regardless of who shows up to play on Sunday. Predicted high for Sunday: 7 degrees.

But Free Radical, all your all-star players will be benched, and the spread favors the Pats by over 14. Well all of that will just make this Sunday's victory all the more magical. I opened up a fortune cookie the other day and it said, "The Chargers will win the superbowl."...so there you have it.

This is quite a good game right now.  Would you boston guys rather have welker for 6 seasons or moss for two

Great question. I would rather have Moss for two. I love, LOVE Welker, he's the perfect Patriot-type player. He's the second coming of Troy Brown. With that being said, Moss is the most talented WR in the history of the NFL. He brings a dimension to the game that no one else can.

Luckily, I think they're going to resign Randy to a two or three year deal, so they'll have both.

The Patriots' Secondary Coverage is terrible.  Are they leaving holes open for SD WRs?  It looks like it.

I know I'm a little late, sorry I was at a party. What was happening was that the inside linebackers were heavily playing run first. That left big holes in the middle and without help the cb's had to give up a little more field. It worked well in the red zone.

I can't say they're better than the Packers or Cowboys, regardless of the fact that they beat both.

Yes, you can. On paper means nothing.

The regular season gets you into the playoffs and makes money for your owner, nothing more.  Your performance in the playoffs is ALL that matters.  Ask the Red Wings about the truth of that.  Would you rather have the President's Trophy or the Stanley Cup?  Yeah, me too.  Do it in the playoffs or go play golf.

Since I'm in TX and have to deal with hearing about Cowboy greatness, I'll let Wally in on something. Your beloved Cowboys havent won a playoff game since 1996. What kind of dynasty has a current streak of being winless in the playoffs for the last 12 years?

And as a Pats fan, YES everyone will remember the Colts winning last year's SB. It will be the reason why Manning is a lock for the hall of fame. The pats werent expected to win the game last year anyway.

IMO, folks not from nor have any affiliation with a certain geographic region's professional sports team who blindly defend them are fraudulent.  The only thing the cowgirls have proven is that they are very good at choking in the playoffs.

I have favorite sports teams in areas other than where I grew up, nor do I have any connection to those areas.  I live in New Orleans, for instance, and we don't have a professional baseball team.  I grew up watching the Yankees with my grandfather.

Ugh...Chargers. I don't think I can root for anyone in the Superbowl this year. Even if I wanted to. The Giants are represented by Eli Manning, probably the most annoying quarterback in the NFL. He made it public that he wouldn't play for the Chargers if drafted, so I'll always bear a grudge against him, plus he has that dumb look on his face all the time.

Last year's Patriots mocked Merriman after their playoff victory so I can't say that I am really pushing for the pats either. I guess I will be pulling for the pats moreso than the Giants, Buress fell apart toward the end of my Fantasy Football season when I REALLY needed him to come up big, so reluctantly, VERY reluctantly, I'll silently hope that the Patriots win the SB.

If not for Eli being a crybaby on draft day, you wouldn't have Merriman (or Kaeding).

And Merriman is a 'roided up blowhard who deserved to be mocked. :)

Yes, we wouldn't have had Merriman, and Kaeding, that is true, but what a punk that manning kid is. It's like being rejected by Cooley before you even apply.

And as far as Merriman is concerned...I have nothing to say: http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t78556.html

Exactly. The pats dont go around mocking everyone. When players jump up and dance after every two yard gain they allow and their fans cheer while the opposing qb lays motionless on the field (see VY), their team deserves to be mocked.

Every team does it to some degree or another - this has been admitted by current and past players. It's a non-issue.

Why do y'all latch onto it like it's another "baseball/steroids" scandal, or something?

I heard they also filmed the Superbowl walk through of the Rams a few years ago....that is not just stealing hand signals, that is a really big deal. (During a walk though a team may reveal their first 15-20 plays of the game, or all their red zone packages etc.) If that turns out to be the case (and you have to admit that it is not that hard to believe after what can be verified happened with the Jets), then I think they deserve every bit of criticism they are getting....(the Patriots are cheaters and they got what they deserved :)
