Question for current 1Ls

1L is everything I thought it would be.  No meltdowns yet because every now and again I have my f**k it moments and I close the books, watch TV, and go to bed early. The world of law will not end if I dont finish reading an assignment.  The law was there yesterday, the day before, and the day before that...so I am pretty sure it will be there tomorrow.  As far as outlining, I am a little ticked off because I started off early trying to live up to my type A personality and that was a waste.  I have pages and pages of information that I have to chop down and its just mid-semester...in other words...DO OVER.  LRW is cool because I like nerdy stuff like researching.  In all, not regretting the experience and handling it pretty well. (Except that I keep seeing blue people at the library and monkeys running through the library racks...what is that about?)

School is going well so far, lots of reading and it definitely keeps me busy.

My Memo is done, and is due tonight. (The first draft anyway)

Haven't had a meltdown. If I get behind during the week, I usually spend Fri-Sun, outlining and catching up with my reading.

While I haven't had a meltdown, I can feel it creeping towards me.  It's almost 11/1, so I'll start outlining.  My school has a B/B+ curve so I'm not worried...but I want to be around the median...and torts still sucks.

Con Law is your friend.  It may not seem like it now but give it a chance.

WE DONT BELIEVE YOU, YOU NEED MORE PEOPLE ;)

But Con Law (the only one of my classes where the prof cold calls) did get a lil interesting today....

Classmate:  I wonder why you never get called on, it seems like he always looks right past you.

Me: Giiirrll, you know he ain't tryna pronounce my name ...he prolly looks at my name on the roster and is like "skiiip!"

Classmate: ha ha, yeah you might be right

Prof: so......gemini5165! (not even my gubment, he calls me by my nickname...WTF??!)

Me:::Ducks down behind laptop:: (when bullets fly, literally or metaphorically, I have a tendency to duck)

Everyone looks in my direction.  I look around at my classmates to see if I could spot the snitch who told the prof my name...you know, that one person not making eye contact....

Prof: gemini5165?

Me: Yessszir?

Prof: lets talk about case  x v y

Me: uhnhuh..

Prof: you dont have to give me any details on the case just tell me how you think it compares to blah blah blah

Me: Um, its like blah blah because blah blah

After about a minute's worth of yes or no questions (each to which I appropriately replied, "Yes." or "No.") he moved on to the next case with someone else. I GOT OFF EZ AS HELL. This prof usually sticks it out with someone for the duration but there just wasn't much to the case.  I leaned back, absorbed the hate and was like, "Jjjjyeah!"

Not as difficult as expected... there is a lot of work, but it's not unmanageable.

I got cold called again in civ pro today.  This is like the third or fourth time so far!  I think he calls me to check if I'm paying attention.  He doesn't realise that I can surf the internet and follow class at the same time, so I get his questions every time!   :)

LOL my torts professor did that to this chick quite often.  She was blonde and kinda had that sterotypical blonde mentality.  Hilarious.  She wasn't paying attention lol.   :D

not so hilarious was when my civ pro professor did it to me.  Like when we got to International Shoe case.  "Ms. Bono {damn}, pretend you're the defendant in this case {oh lawd}, what are you thinking?"  "dang {laughter} huuuuuuh {more laughter}, I dunno...what the defendant's..um.. state of mind is but I would be thinking there's not enuf contacts.   {yessss}  Professor: "You don't sound sure, convince me...matter of fact let's get a debate going. {damn} Ms.  X you pretend to be the Plaintiff".  {damn, freaking out...I was half asleep}.  Ms. X lists a whole buncha things to establish contacts.  {hmmm, getting advesarial and thinking like a lawyer}  "true but I don't think these contacts were continual and umm, what's the word...u know...like.. substantial and stuff."  LOL, I miss being a 1L

1L?  Shoot, I'm still like that.  Shoulda seen me in Evidence yesterday.  Caught ENTIRELY off-guard, totally confused by whatever part of the hearsay rule we were going over, and certainly too lazy to pass.  Dah well.  I'll stumble through it and not really care.  That's one part of being a 1L I don't miss, though -- caring what my classmates thought of my intelligence level, lol.  I really don't care anymore.

LOL, I adopted a kinda dont-care-'cause-I-know-you're-gonna-ask-me-something-that-I dunno-eventually  attitude after the 4th time my civ pro professor called on me.  My evidence class--->  I turned into "one of those"  Well , professor seems to me it'd be easier to get this in under a biz records exception-  w/o being asked.  Yep, total 180.  But yeah I agree with u, I'm so glad that I got over what my classmates may be thinking  cause in reality the only thing that they were thinking was "I'm glad professor didn't call on me".  But for a while there I was totally insecure.

did u ever get that PMBR stuff for evidence?
