netflix is evil.  cancel your subscription.... >:(

If you rent too many movies they start shipping your dvd's across the country to make the turnaround time slower....

I noticed my turnaround dropped of significantly all of a sudden... checked the postmark, my dvds were being shipped to/from San Diego.  I like in Jersey.  Apparently, part of the contract stipulates that if you get "flagged" as a heavy user, they can take measures to delay your shipping.

Anyway, be warned... dont rent too many movies... netflix doesn't appreciate if you take advantage of the "unlimited" rentals they claim to offer.

I agree, but what to do? I don't have cable and I can't afford to rent a bunch of movies. Do you have an alternative site that you use, blockbuster or something?

I just sent back Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral On A Moving Train. I give it an A+, we need more people like him out there. Next up I've got "Lost in La Mancha." Not sure what to expect, but I haven't been disapointed by Mr. Depp yet.

Tell us what you just watched and what's next up on your queue.

Anybody know of a good book on Sierra Leone?

I think there are a lot of things that need to be done. I mention divestment because I think it is a powerfull tool that is fairly easy for the common college student to do. It is certainly not enough, but it is a step further than simply talking about it. (I'm not saying anyone here is just talking about it, just saying that most people tend to hear about this issue, ask themselves how it could be happening, and then forget about it.)

It is very difficult to get people to care about this issue, it is even more difficult to get people to take action. There is a march in DC this Sunday that I will be attending regarding the genocide in Sudan. There will be many speakers and if you are interested you should attend, listen, and speak out.

Also, check out, I spoke with these people at a three day event at Harvard this past year and they are really dedicated to helping the cause. Look into "divestment," it is already having an impact and it is something that you can do at your school.

Ya, I am not excited about the weather, but being from Connecticut it is nothing unusual. Also, if I were going to school in say, Sunny California, I wouldn't get any work done. For me, cold weather = willingness to stay inside and study.

Thanks for the info, I am currently looking for an apartment in either Squirel Hill or Shadyside. I am not big on bars, however since I won't have a car it would be nice to be near a bus stop and perhaps within walking distance of a grocery store or coffee shop or something. I am also trying to figure out whether or not to find a roomate to live with, I really need to save money, so it sounds like a good idea. Then again, I'm scared to death of getting some random roomate from hell...any suggestions welcome.
