Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Is T25 Possible?
« on: July 20, 2008, 08:11:23 PM »
Depends on what type of hispanic you are. Mexican and Puerto Rican, you should be in very good shape.

Top 10 Reaches: NYU, Columbia, Chicago, Stanford (these are the top schools which seem to favor applicants with your background and numbers)

Other Reaches: USC, Cornell, Duke, Gtown, Virginia

I think any school ranked past the 20's you should be okay. You might get waitlisted but persistence should help.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 150K -200K Debt Club...Anyone?
« on: July 10, 2008, 11:38:30 PM »
This is freaking me out. I was 100% ready to attend USC, but now that I am looking at about 140,000 in debt after I graduate (including some left over UG loans), I am rethinking my options. Maybe Cornell with 200k in debt would have been a safer decision? Anyway yeah, until student loans are paid off, I'm living like the poor man I am and freaking out about my debt just about every day.

Current Law Students / Re: Really Need Transfer Help
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:58:33 PM »
There is a yahoo e-mail group that deals with transferring during law school. I forget the exact name, but I'm pretty sure you could find it after a little bit of searching. If I remember correctly, they have a database of transfers student applications and you would probably be able to find someone familiar with your position. Congrats on doing so well your 1st year at a T20 school.

i admit that my post is a shameless USC troll

How did you get your firm job? Where did you rank in your class and how important was that in your job search? Did the firm offer you a 10-week position or was the 5-week position the only thing available?

What school do you attend and what city are you working in?

Could 1L's also state what they are doing in the summer?

Law School Admissions / Re: USC Notification Methods?

For what it is worth, I was accepted to USC with no email notification prior to the acceptance package.
