Job Search / State Attorneys Office vs. Paid Small Firm Position
« on: January 12, 2008, 01:24:25 PM »
As a 1L summer gig, what is better work experience on a resume - unpaid State Attorneys office internship or paid position at a small (3-7) attorney firm?

Ha ha, nope that's not me.  But it does become annoying during the finals period.  But I'm okay as long as you guys stay out of the quiet room.  :D  Congrats on your acceptances.

I work in the admissions office.  You should call and ask instead of assuming.

So should I call and ask if everybody else at UF is a jerk?  Or can I just assume that?

Please do.  And don't forget to leave your name.

You're right.  It may not be applicable to you, but sometimes people air their thoughts on boards like these without thinking that their identity could be discovered.  As long as you're not saying that you hate certain races or anything to that extent you'll be fine.

This was a surprisingly unhelpful and unfriendly post for an adcom.

Let me clarify before you run with this.  I am a student at UF who works in the admissions office as a part of the Student Recruitment Team.  If any of you have ever come to Levin for a visit, you might have been given a tour by one of the SRT members.

It would be improper for me to post a response as to what your inquiry means.  However, instead of stirring up anxiety among other posters, I advise you to contact the admissions office.  They are there to answer any of your inquiries and can easily clarify your curiosity in this case.

dotlyn: though it gets annoying answering the many questions that come into the office, that's what we're here for.  Sometimes the questions can be ridiculous and are pretty self-explanatory but some applicants just don't read the UF website.  Or better yet, the influx of calls that come in close to deadlines (i.e., the most recent deadline) can get to be a lot at times.  SRT members are generally understanding b/c we have been in the same position that you are in right now.

I would try not to leave your name if you call often, but a question like this is understandable. And FYI adcoms read these websites.

**Also I don't mind helping but please don't tag my posts.
