If your technology challenge, by all means get an IPOD.  But if you have a short learning curve for tech gear, go and check out iriver.com.  Their players are FAR superior to Apple's.  Iriver is the biggest name in MP3 players in S.Korea.  And I dont have to tell you how insane Koreans are with their tech toys.

Rare that technology actually makes a difference to qol. the ipod really does. Podcasts, all (or a lot) of your music, language lessons, plays, pics - all to go. Good stuff.

I love the Zen Micro personally.

I had one of these. Creative is a really flaky product. Mine worked perfectly until it suddenly uninstalled the firmware one day. Couldn't get it to connect to 3 different computers so I could reinstall it, not even with different cables or anything. Sent it back to Creative, they kept it for 3 months, then sent me a refund bc I had bought the extended warranty (which I usually never do, but it was only like $10). I wouldn't recommend it. I have an iPod now. It's overpriced, but it's trouble-free.

Morning maggie

Swats: For TV content? Yes. $2 an episode, I think. For those people hooked on Lost.

Shuffle is ok. I just like to have all my music with me.

Hallo Red--

Stan, the vids aren't really worth it. Screen is way too small and it sucks the battery. If you really want vid, rip some of your DVDs and convert them. I have a few movies stashed on mine for emergency boredom.

Podcasts are free.

Shuffle=fewer songs, no ability to control play pattern once you disconnect from computer (you have to create and load playlists)

awww crappity....  >:(

okay, i guess i'll have to go out and buy a regular one then.

damned pricetag.  >:(

makes me feel better when i think about putting money in the bank every two weeks.  ;)

okay, i'm buying one.

You could always go for one of the used 20GB on eBay... or do they not ship to you guys?

That way, you don't have to worry about sand and whatnot ad you can upgrade in a little while when they improve the screen.
