I've sent all my apps in and now have nothing to do but wait. I was wondering if any books are available on kindle. I'm not sure where I'm going to end up but if I end up in New York I'd probably be taking the train in each day. I'd much rather carry one thing than a bunch of books back and forth. Anybody have any experience with this?

Where in NY do you think you will end up with those numbers?

check the amazon website. A good way to reduce weight is to have the books cut into sections and rebound.

From what I can tell, there are no legal textbooks available for the Kindle. I would buy one in a heartbeat, and probably pay more for the books if I could get them electronically like that. The only "paperless" option I've been able to come up with involves buying a Kindle or Sony eBook that supports PDFs, cutting the textbooks and scanning them to PDF. But from what I've seen, PDF's aren't completely clear on any of the eBooks, and the process of scanning 4 1000 page books would be pretty brutal. You'd either have to have access to a high speed, duplex scanner or pay Kinkos to do it, which I'm certain would cost a small fortune. I'm sure it'll be a few years before the textbook publishers finally realize there is a market for this kind of stuff, or figure out how to profit from it.

A guy from west (publishing division, not a westlaw rep) who I talked to told me they are considering it.

The only thing I can think of is that they are worried that their books are going to end up on bit torrent and they are unable to reap in huge profits.
