I am top 1/3 and EIC of 2ndary journal.  Is it even worth it to apply for judicial clerkships?

From what my CSO told me state yes, fed no unless your top 15-20%. My schools still has not released rankings for this year and its late in the clerkship app season, so I have no idea if I should even bothering sending anything out for fed.   >:(

Of course you should.  What's the worst that can happen?  You won't get a job.  What happens if you don't apply?  You won't get a job.  Pascal's Wager that shizz foolio!

Well... unless you suffer from some paranoid delusions.... In that case I suppose the worst that can happen is that the government would keep a file of your substandard application and add you to a watchlist of people to smite or something.  If you think that sort of thing happens, then you might not want to send out any apps.

Entirely depends on geography.

There will be federal judges in out of the way places who would love to interview you.

I saw repostings from some federal judges around here who obviously didn't get the level of applicant they wanted the first time or through the Symplicity system, who are in places like New Bern, NC.

OMGZ

::deltes hard drive:::

I kind of would like to know where I stand rank wise before I send out the apps, I might target diffrent judges. Oh I also agree with fireplace we got a few direct requests from fed jusges in like BFE. Like I had no idea there was a 10th cir judge in Sante Fe, N.M. But the big city judges go fast. I don't want to move/sell my house so I'm stuck with just judges in town, so that was my thinking.

Yeah, I'm willing to move for a $100k+ salary, but not for a clerkship.  I realize that the dividends will be paid later, but two years is a long time.

Yea and I don't move well. Most of my furniture is Ikea stuff, it looks cool but it does not move well at all gets all wobbly or you can't remeber how it goes back together. Plus I love my house I'm walking distance from the fed couirt. Judges should take that into account over grades, I'm GREEN dammit I can walk to work.
