I think the T14 is going to be just out of reach. However, I think you have a VERY DECENT shot at some solid schools outside of that group.

Yes, you will go to law school. And yes, you might even go to a top 25 school if you put some thought into your addendum. Congrats!

Where are you located? Are you interested in any particular region?

The bolded is not necessarily true.  Some t14s (NU and to a lesser extent, Mich and UVa) are known to be splitter friendly (though you may have to ride out a waitlist for a bit).

Apply widely.

I think it's very unlikely to crack the T14, but I think you're right. Some schools are better than others about splitters, so you never know. I CERTAINLY encourage the OP to apply to a few schools in the T14, absolutely! The odds are against him/her, but it's certainly worth trying. With a LSAT of 172, you definitely have to try. But I do think he has a great shot at some other schools ranked outside the T14, but within the T25, which is good news.

If you look at the last 2 cycles splitter threads, it's not highly/very unlikely.  I'm not saying it's a lock, but it's not as dire as you make it out to be.  Otherwise, I agree with you re:t25, thus me telling the OP to apply widely.  S/he is sure to get into a good amt of t25.

I am looking at somewhere I can get in and be sure to get a job from. Something decent.

Oh, and I will need a deferral. I will be in Iraq for a year...most schools I have spoken to are more than willing to help me out with that given the circumstances.

If you crack the Top 25, I don't think you have to fret about finding a decent job. Assuming you won't be a slacker and assuming you'll be active in school, you'll be fine.

I will keep this thread updated as I go along. I am definately going to apply to law schools ranked 11-25, and then probably even quite a few from 26-50 just to be sure.

Don't totally write off the T14 either.  Obviously every splitter's situation is different, but I got into a few of them 2 cycles ago with almost identical numbers.
