Alabama law schools

Disclaimer:  I'm originally from Chicago but have lived in AL since 1998.

Believe it or not, Alabama is quite diverse as far as ethnic or racial groups are concerned; especially at their schools.  I know the University of Alabama in Huntsville has many asians.  One of my good friends, who is asian, just got his masters there.

Although there are still many conservative efforts here (like voting NO for a state lottery), the older generations are being slowly phased out here by the younger generations; generations who are more open-minded and are willing to try new ideas for prosperity.

According to the last time I looked at UA's official diversity numbers, UA's law school had two Asians. The law school is much less diverse than the University itself.  However, the number of women is probably close to 50%.

As for practicing in Florida, If you want to go to school in Alabama go to UA if you can. The alumni is more wide spread.  To allow you to be mobile you will need to go to an ABA school.  If I am not mistaken, Non-ABA grads who practice for 5 years and maintain good standing with their state's bar can sit for the Florida exam.

I will have to recheck my source on that.

The bottom line on this whole discussion is that if you get accepted and it works for you personally, UA is an excellent choice. The other schools in the state all have good points but they are benchmarked against UA.

I am also looking at the Alabama Law Schools.  I am taking the LSAT on Saturday,  I am so nervous.  I really want UA more than anything, but Samford is just so pricey.  I am considered BSOL but I need more info.
