Writing an addendum for an Arrest, PLEASE HELP!!
« on: February 05, 2010, 03:39:33 PM »
Ok, so over new years I was arrested for Disorderly Intoxication. the charges were lowered to Disorderly Conduct but the case is still open. My attorney says that they are giving me pre trial diversion, even though nothing has been put in writing or taken place yet. The story behind the arrest is that a guy was choking his girlfriend, and I stepped in to help her. There was alcohol involved in the situation. My only priors are a speeding ticket and a small fender bender. So my question is, should I tell the story of what happened with me stepping in to help a friend out, or just put that I was arrested for disorderly conduct? I'm applying to Florida, FSU, and a few other schools but those are my main ones right now. Also, should I list my traffic tickets in the addendum?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

dont list the traffic tickets unless they ask for them.  unless you have a hundred of them, nobody really cares.

write your addendum clearly and concisely, do NOT make excuses, take responsibility -- simply explain what happened, what the penalty will probably be (go ahead and say that you are being offered diversion) and most importantly what you learned from it and why it wont happen again.

good luck.

Thank you so much!! That literally helps me out a great deal! What do you think my chances of getting into UF or FSU are with a 3.2 GPA and a 162 on the LSAT?

Well my LSAT score is in the top 12th percentile in the country, and at Florida their 25th-75th percentile ranged from 156-162, respectfully. But my G.P.A. (3.2) is below their 25th percentile of 3.30.

Florida State's LSAT range is 157-161 and their 25th percentile GPA was a 3.31.

I am about to graduate from Florida State though so maybe that will weigh a little bit in my favor? lol I just really want to go to a Tier 1 school.

youre at the top of their range, so i think you should be ok.  lsat > gpa anyway, from what i have seen.  is law school numbers (lsn) still running?  you can get an idea of who was selected last cycle.
