How to Apply to Law School

Personal Statement

After your LSAT score and GPA, the next most important application material is your personal statement. The personal statement (supposedly) can be quite influential in determining whether a school will admit you or not. Remember all those 50/50 schools you're applying to? Something has to separate out the good 50 from the bad 50. That's where your essay and recommendations come in. Each school has their own guidelines for the personal statement, but most are so general that you can use the same essay everywhere. Make sure to adhere strictly to any technical requirements (length, spacing), and make sure your grammar is perfect. There are professional editing services that will help you plan and proofread. See the pre-law resources page for some links.
